"Next-Gen" Blizzard MMO officially confirmed as NOT a WoW expansion
As much as I loved WoW (even tho I dont play it now, not enough time to play it how I want too, which is all the time), I hope whatever it is, is radically different, and not just the same ol same ol'

One thing that'll be nice about this new MMO is that all the kinks and must have engine and UI features that have gotten added to WoW over the past three years should be in this new game from day one.

Well... Hopefully.
Yea, couldnt believe it took them almost what... 2 years to add guild banks?
Anyways, I'm still hoping for that Starcraft Universe MMOFPS, but my guess is on the Diablo 3: Quit your Job now MMO

I knew this for a bit, but I sit next to an ex-GM in my Comp Sci class :P. I have a feeling this will be a radically different game just because it's Blizzard's style. They've released 2 RTS series, Starcraft and Warcraft. Do we really have to compare them? I mean some concepts aren't all that different in the games, but that's just the genre. (WELL IN BOTH YOU KILL OTHER DUDES).
I'm excited for this, whatever it is (MMORTS? Pretty Please? You can make out with me blizzard.)
Is it an MMO adventure game? I wish Blizard had released that adventure game. ):
Edit: Is there any chance that this is WoW2? I can't imagine them making another one so soon.
Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans Online
It'll be great, everyone will be an orc warrior and we'll all fight over clicking on pixels to find hidden items... oh man I'm excited.
No no no. You will having to click objects for a random chance to actually pick up the objects. You then randomly put the objects together and then hope they actually do something. Whether or not they do anything depends completely on luck.

I understand mmofps but how does mmorts work? I like the name but I just can't figure what exactly you'd be doing.
I would like to see them make an MMO not based on one of their existing franchise. Obviously their first MMO being Warcraft made sense as it had an attachable fanbase already, that then proceeded to explode. At this point they can make a new universe and just slap "From the makers of WoW" on the box and get sales like crazy, and not have to try and fit existing lore around MMO mechanics and have to retcon things.
Hell, can they keep reusing shit they invented over 10 years ago? Well okay SC is not quite 10 years old.
But they've already gone over Warhammer and Warhammer 40k. All of Games Workshop's other games are based off of those two settings so what can Blizzard actually do now that's new?
Not necessarily. If they get a jump on it now, and spend a few years in development, it'll be an acceptable release. Especially if they do something about accounts transferring over.
I'm not saying they should, nor am I saying this is likely. I'm just throwing out the argument of it being a possibility.

that's fair, for some reason I was thinking of an upcoming release, too soon to be WoW 2. but you make a good point.

Not necessarily a Blizzard series though, they could be digging into Activision's bag of IPs for the MMO.
Unlikely, as this has been in development for at least a year now.
:^:
I've heard it's something new, but in all honesty, my source hasn't really been, uh, good, so take it with a grain of salt.
I do believe Blizzard can pull off a MMO(whatever), they're just good at making games (Ok Ghost, but c'mon, it looked good before it got horribly mauled, than horribly mauled, than unhorribly mauled, then shelved and mauled).

Starcraft MMOFPS?

Listen to our podcast, read our articles, tell us how much you hate it and how to make it better

You have no idea how hard I would play that.
God, Rock n' Roll Racing was my reason for living in grade school.
That and watching Nicole in gym class.
Diablo MMO :v:

Spawning more overlords.
or was that rockstar?
Was rockstar, when they were known as DMA design. They also made the awesometastic "body harvest" for N64.
That's not an expansion.
Bastards just teased us with that one.
that would be foolish.

Just make Diablo3 already.
God, please, let it be so. This would be the best thing ever. I would quit playing every other FPS.
Personally, I'm guessing Starcraft on the heels of SC2 coming out, like WoW did after Frozen Throne.

MMOFPS from them would be great though
But you have no clue what this will be like. This MMO is Next-Gen.
