Throw in a decent amount of hype, the fact that this is the first next-gen installment in a popular series, and the fact that it can pick up a few extra sales on the PS3 and really, I'm thinking that 1.8 million figure is looking more and more attainable. Not instantly, of course, but by the end of 2008, I'd be surprised if it hadn't reached that figure.

Lost Planet single handedly made me go from being ambivalent towards mechs, to loving them, to hating them with every fiber of my soul in the space of a 3 hour third person shitty generic shoot da aliens combat game straight out of the 1980s.
If that piece of shit can sell that much on one console, I think DMC4 can sell a whole lot more.

It just amazes me every time. Not so much surprising, but seeing WII or NDS on almost every line makes me chuckle at the thought of people saying that Nintendo is headed for failure (this was early 06).
