I've always been a sucker for fantasy and hack-n-slash games. This games seems to have those in spades. I've seen lilke absolutly no buzz surounding this game at all. Thats either a good thing or a very terrible thing.

I downloaded the demo last night (Korean Marketplace), but have yet to try it out. Just curious if anyone else was interested in it or has played it.

Side Note: I also hear the original Xbox games were quite good as well. Any word on if theya re BC or is it even worth it becuse they have not aged well?

I loved the first two KUF games. I always described it as what Dynasty Warriors should have been.

You've got your general and your army, made up of infantry, cavalry, sappers, archers, aerial support (wyverns, poison-spewing dirigibles, giant birds, etc.) and siege weapons (catapults, mortars and a gigantic mammoth.....thing that fires molten cannonballs from its back.)
You tell your various armies where to go and fire, then jump in the action with your general, hacking and slashing away.

Seems pretty straightforward. But then you get deeper, and set up ambushes through a forest by lining the floor with explosive traps. They've cavalry who will tear your infantry to shreds, so you've got to position your spearmen so they deflect the charge. They've got aerial assault units, so you've got to take them down with your archers who are fending off their infantrymen.

If you can micromanage, you will love this game.

As for generals, you've got everything from Elven females, hulking knights with skull-crushing warhammers, scantily-clad vampires who use swords of bone and whips made from their own blood, Ogres who are so large they use enemy infantry as clubs and a typical death-knight fellow who is so badass he fights with nothing but a hood, a cape, a loincloth and a sword he can light on fire.

KUF 2 is considerably harder than the first, though. Tutorial level? Hell no. Lead these lone sappers (who are essentially fighting with wooden swords) through this woodland. Oh yeah, there are about twenty enemy infantry units patrolling the woods. Good luck.

The multiplayer aspect never really worked that well, so don't get them if you're looking for a robust matchmaking system. But they're worth a play, in my opinion. I kind of wish I never traded them in, now that I think about it.

A friend of mine had the first one and it was a lot of fun. I never got a chance to play it though, but it looked interesting enough that if I ever owned an Xbox or a 360 (if they were BC) then I'd pick them up.

Isn't this one some kind of dungeon crawler instead of a fantasy warfare game?

From what I've seen, it's a mixture of both. But instead of dungeon crawling, you'll be fighting inside part of the time with destructible environments.

I hope they don't change it TOO much from the originals, because well, then it wouldn't be a KUF game.

They're touting that they have something like 100 different types of units this time around, so it should be interesting.

Its pretty much STRICKTLY a dungeon crawler. All of the RTS elements have been removed as far as I know.

NOTE: appearently its just a little side project. The story is supposet to bridge the gap between KuF2 and the next KuF4 tittle.

I think from what I have read its a mix between Dynasty Warriors and Diablo. I'll check out the demo tongiht before I CoD4 myself into a coma. =)

Wow, really? I need to get with the program. I haven't checked up on it in awile.

I'm not sure how I feel about that. It's claiming to have so many units, so is it like a diablo with a bodyguard force?

Let me know how the demo is, because I'm sure I'll forget to download it between now and when I get home from work.

Tapeworm is right. This Kingdom Under Fire game is a hack-and-slash one. There shouldn't be any armies or squads to command. You go through fairly linear and confined levels defeating foes, leveling up, and gaining loot. There's also co-op, but the second player can pretty much just go do whatever he wants. He can go on ahead and complete the story at a different pace than you do it.

    From IGN:

The third in the franchise of large-scale battles, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom is an action role-playing game based on the world of Kingdom Under Fire, where forces of light and darkness are locked in battle.Choose from a cast of six unique characters with different combat styles and abilities and experiment with more than 50 Abilities, 60 Enhancements and infinite combinations of weapons, abilities and spells. Players can access each character's dream world to gain new powers and discover more about the dimension. This surreal fantasy set in ever-changing dimensions pits players' characters against swarms of thousands of outlandish creatures from the depths of the Dark Dimension.

Images that show this, too: Spoilered:

There is actually 4 player co-op. "Seamless" co-op as they call it, which means you can just jump in and out of games without restarting anything.

And I played the demo, it's just like a imagined from the videos. A bit floaty (only played the fast assassin/vampire guy) combat, but still a fun dungeon crawler. I can see this become about 1000 times more fun with friends over life.

I love KUF, and a diablo-esque Dynasty Warriors game actually makes me giddy. I'm also a fan of multiplayer only content, since it gives me more replay value for the game. Especially diablo-clone games, where replay value is a necessity.

It gives you more replay value at the expense of mine. That's ridiculous. Multiplayer only modes of play? Fine. But multiplayer only content that could just as easily be in the single player game is just stupid.

They add bosses to the multiplayer game. Which is dumb. There's no way a boss can be too hard for single player; they make the boss. Give him less hit points, make him a little weaker.

This is nothing like dynasty warriors and I don't know who said it was.

This is a dungeon crawler, simple as that. Just because it has 3d graphics and one guy fights against big groups of enemies doesn't make it "like Dynasty Warriors"

It does have a Dynasty Warriors feel to the movies I've seen tho. Only in the way combat tends to play out and the camera angle; you alone against a freak load of critters. But that's all.

Anyway, I just watched the video. Looks like Dynasty Warriors to me, but not so much of one general verses another. I guess it could be more like God of War, but that's not much better to me, in my opinion.

As long as Diablo 3 uses a pointer to tell your character where to go, and where to attack... Then it isn't like Dynasty Warriors at all. But if it turns out to something like this, then yes.

there is a brief preview in this months game informer, apparently the game is quit silly, to quote game informer.

"there are spells such as Clapping, where you applaud your fellow player who is being pulverized by the enemy, then there's weeping, where tears burst from your eye sockets and damage nearby enemies, and Timber, where you summon a wooden golem. It doesnt fight for you, It just collapses on your enemies."

the mag also talks of being able to equip weapons in either hand, and its entirely possible to dual wield shields.

Dual wielding shields was the first thing I did as the Paladin in the demo.
Clapping is a skill that is used to find hidden items and passages. I didn't know about weep and it sounds like Super Princess Peach. The Golem sounds funny though.

And what's so bad about being able to dual wield? (THIS IS NOT A HALO RIP OFF DAMMIT!!!)

I've really been looking forward to this game, I just wish it supported single system co-op. I can live with a split screen!

I read an interview with one of the developers who was saying they tried to inject some humor into the game, keep it light hearted. Apparently one of the character's super moves is she cries rivers of destruction. I don't know, what ever, the other KUFs had great character designs and action. I expect this to be along the same lines, only with more refined hacking and slashing to make up for the lack of RTS abilities.

Last I checked the old KUFs are not BC, which is a god damn shame.
