Some stupid mechanic I catch almost every RPG doing once.

Stop putting in that stupid section of the game, where all enemies have a million armor/defense, so they can only take 1hp in dmg, but you give them like 5-10hp in hit points...

The point is to make them a pain in the ass to kill with attacks, but spells can one-shot them. I mean, y'know, just throwing that out there.

Okay, but why reduce their max hp to 10?

I mean, if I'm at the point in the game, where I'm attacking for 100dmg on a regular attack, why suddenly make my weapons feel useless?

Would it not be just as affective to give the monster like 8K hp, he can still take 100dmg from my regular attack, but make him take like 3k from fire or something.

Atleast make it a bit more sensical.

Like, if I'm attacking a solid stone statue... dealing 1 dmg might be alright. But if I'm attacking a ghost, or gelatin... why would my sword have a problem?

I would like to point out that you are trying to use logic to explain why your metal sword would be able to hurt a noncorporeal soul and/or a living blob of goo.

The endless PC upgrade path. I upgraded my computer a year ago, I can play Doom 3, Half Life 2, and Quake 4 in HD resolutions, but I can't get DIRT to boot at all because it needs features my graphics card doesn't have and Sega Rally Revo runs at 1 ~ 2 fps.

I have a damned good computer, and I got all of 3 games or so on it before I need to upgrade again to keep up. Fuck that noise.

Sadly you only have other gamers to blame for that. And games coverage that centers around frame by frame comparisons of screen shots to see which game has more polygons.
there's nothing FORCING you to upgrade at all. Many games run on low spec, and older games still run. My mate has a crap PC, and I got him a copy of Cossacks, so we can play head to head battles. He knows modern RTS games are WAY better, and that I can run them, but he's not tempted to spend the cash to play the new ones. So we end up playing older games, which is l33t because they are dirt cheap and run like a dream on my PC.
Plus there are always budget games and indie games that will run on a 5year old PC no worries. Not every game is demanding Crysis or Bioshock style specs. (I know mine don't).

    inspired by nosnibor's post:

"Teleporting" enemies in FPS games. Looking at you Doom 3 and Quake 4. Fucking cheap bullshit gameplay. You go through a door door closes, there's a slight noise, door opens behind you, you get assraped.

Dude, you must have spent like $30 bucks on that "upgrade". My 4 year old PC can play all those in HD resolutions. Of course, now it can't even load Bioshock cause of Shaders or some bullshit.

But don't complain that your "newly upgraded" PC can't play new games, when you just upgraded it to a 4 year old computer.
