Yeah, I kept trying to get up to leave, and then a new ending came up.

If the fade to blacks didnt last so long it wouldnt seem as bad. But there is like a good 3-4 seconds of black between each of the end scenes.

I went to the midnight showing of The Fellowship of the Rings. 8 screens playing. 3 of them had either snapped reels or caught on fire(?!) so they stopped the other 5 running screens about 1/3 the way through (I think).

I still haven't seen more than 1/3 of the first movie. None of the other two.

Won the tickets from a radio station, and I dunno guess I just lost interest after that.

I've read the books about 40 times, isn't that good enough? Or am I actually missing out on not seeing the movies

I didn't enjoy the LotR movies, but I didn't enjoy the books, either. So it's not all that surprising, really.
And the one time I tried watching Blade Runner, it was at 1 AM and I couldn't stay awake.

I have seen Blade Runner so many times I just can't stay awake during it any more. I saw the Final Cut at a second run theater and fell asleep more than once, only to be awakened by loud music, dialog, or gun shots.

Where the hell can you rent movies for 99 cents?

generally I've found that non new-releases are cheap as hell to rent, a buck or maybe two

even less if you want to stoop to vhs

Not at any video store I have ever been to. It's like, four or five bucks at blockbuster and it might be a bit cheaper at the local place that is ridiculously out of the way to go to, but I know it's at least three bucks.

Well 5 minutes away from me is a video store that rents out older DVDs for $1.

I really dont get what the hype around Blade Runner is about. I desperately want to like it, I liked the story, I like the idea, I like Harrison Ford. But the whole movie just doesn't move me in the least. I've seen the directors cut a few times and I think I've caught the original once. I'm definately interested in the Final Cut, just because its such a classic sci-fi movie (sci-fi is pretty much all I read, and its also largely how I think), but I can't fathom how it would be able to strike me if the other versions left no impression on me.

I bought Blade Runner on DVD (which cut? Who knows!) about six months ago and I've got a hard on for dystopic, Ridley Scott and Harrison Ford. So I thought it would be a sure win but I just couldn't get into it and have yet to finish it.

For you DVD-cavemen there's 3 versions, a 2-disc for cheap, a 4-disc for cheapish, and a 5-disc in the briefcase thing with all the extras for $Texas.

For the cool modern kids with HD-DVD or Blu-ray players, there's 2 versions in each format, both are 5-disc boxes, one in just standard packaging for about $30, and then the mega-briefcase edition for $WTF.. ($70)

Here in Euro-landia there is this. It has all the 5 discs, some extra junk ("rare art folio" and "motion film clip"), and came in a metal tin that's actually quite nice. Cost me about 40 US simoleons.

I still haven't watched the final cut, but I have to say out of the 90s Director's Cut and the original theatrical release (with the voiceovers) I very much prefer the one with the voiceovers. Dunno, I just like the film noir feel it has. Feel free to berate me now, and possibly beat me with sticks if that's your thing.

1996, gotta be one of the first DVDs ever. I have that also, the picture quality is extremely disappointing.

It's the "Director's Cut" that was shown in theaters in... 92-93 or so. Removes the noir voice-over, includes the (black/white) "unicorn" scene and replaces the ending.
