Many FYE stores closing, 20% off video game clearance
ShadowfireVermont, in the middle of nowhereRegistered Userregular
The FYE near us is closing down in January, and they're starting to clear out the video games before Christmas hits. There are 4 other stores just in Vermont and New Hampshire that are closing, as well, plus many more nation-wide. Folks may want to hit up their local store, see if they're closing, and grab what you can.
I know we usually do threads for these decent sales when TRU/BB/CC/whoever has clearances, so hey, post your finds!
This might be stupid but, do we have FYE's in so cal?
I've never even heard of this place, although unless its fry's, I don't go to electronic stores.
There is one in Torrance (Hawthorne and Sepulveda). It took the spot of a Tower Records that went under (funny that they thought they could succeed where Tower failed).
In my experience, 20% off FYE's prices will still be higher than you'd pay for the same game at an actual games store.
I wouldn't be terribly surprised if that was true. I'll be checking the FYE in Columbia, MO this friday, maybe.
HAHA. I was going to come in this thread and say "I guess their philosophy of charging 20 dollars more than everybody else didn't work out for them" but looks like it's already been covered.
I bought what I was sure was the last copy of Orange Box in the city of Chicago at FYE on release day. That was my only experience with them
the guy I talked to over the phone was nice enough to pull the last copy from the shelves and hold it for me as I booked over from work.
They seem to price their games like every other music/movie/game store I've ever been in --- Virgin, Coconuts, &tc.
I'm in NH too, and the FYE near me is apparently selling it's wares at %50 off.
So there's some cheap games (If anything good is still left).
Yea.. any new stuff is going to be the same as everywhere else, -20%... so I grabbed Brain Age 2 for $16.
Also, you guys who are upset about the price of the stuff still being higher are forgetting something. Some items are the same price regardless of where you go, particularly when they are a monetary purchase. For instance, MS points, XBox Live time, WoW/EQ/CoH time cards... these are all 20% off, as well. ;-)

Being that I work at one I have a cache of DS games I'm waiting to drop to a decent price. Shh.
I didn't see any Wii or PSP games worthwhile caching.

Final Fantasy XI -> Carbuncle - Samash
The only problem with that is that you'll have to wait until it goes to about 25-30% off before you get to normal prices.

Yes, but they almost never, ever lower them. Even when the manufacturer lowers the price themselves, they'll have the same original price on them.

There's one in Irvine, but that's the only one I've ever seen.
