Let me first apologize because my server knowledge outright sucks.

ADMINS: if this is the wrong forum and this should be in H/A, please move me.

I am trying to host a server for a few of my friends and I can't seem to get my server off of "local host" status and nobody can see me in the server lists.

I know there is something in CS source that you can put in console of "SV_lan 0" but I am still stuck on local and my friends can't see my server.

I am not running a dedicated server, just my desktop for when we are playing.

I am also having the same trouble with jedi outcast 2 (oldie but goodie).

I gave both programs permissions in my firewall.

Please tell me it is a simple solution.

WIN XP OS

thanks all.

Is your computer behind a router? If so, you need to forward the proper ports to your computer. For any Steam game you have to open up a hell of a lot of ports, google around and you should find the list. Jedi Outcast 2 looks like it requires 28060,28061,28062,28070-28081 (UDP) to be forwarded. Can't we go back to the days where a game required one port to be forwarded? :x

my god, now I feel old. Looks like I missed the bus. I've never seen this port config type before.

    I'll give it a go
