Okay so this is possibly a little latecoming, but does anyone have any good "Mum" titles for the Nintendo DS as a christmas present, she already has Meteos and Tetris, but her favourite is Puzzle Quest which she stole off of me, I'm wondering if maybe now would be the time to throw a non-puzzle game like Zelda at her; now that Puzzle Quest has warmed her up, or if not are there any other great puzzle titles that are available in the UK?

Thanks in advance, guys!

    Hotel Dusk

Anything with 'Brain', 'training' or a combination of the two in the name.

Polarium was a game that came out near the DS launch that I played a demo of which seemed to be pretty good, though puzzle games aren't really my thing.
Trauma center is another good game that is kind of a puzzle game, though I don't know about its current availability, or if it has a different name for the UK.

Edit: Oh also Animal Crossing if you never want to see your Mom again.

Get her cooking mama, then go tell her to bake you a pie.

Thanks everyone, you guys rock, my Mum's a bit of a feminist and would probably punch me if I bought her Cooking Mama, I'll check out polarium, unfortunatly Gameplay.co.uk is a bit crap for DS games and it's my main way of getting them.

Picross is a definite must, Brain Age/Training, NYT Crossword Puzzles (I actually enjoyed thinking for a change), Prism is awesome too

I would strongly consider Zelda. Its really simple and has fun gameplay, not to mention since this would be her first Zelda the puzzles may actually give her a bit of a challenge.

If you wanted to consider a platformer style game, try Yoshi Island, its on sale today on Amazon for 15$

EBA is awesomesauce, but I think it might get a little too hard and intense for her, even on the easiest setting.

Some more from looking over at the shelf: Magnetica, Clubhouse Games, and Cooking Mama.

I'll also second almost everything mentioned so far. This is a quality list growing here. Remember that the Brain Age games come with Sudoku, which is loads of awesome.

Polarium, Brain Age, New York Times Crosswords, Planet Puzzle League, Bust-A-Move DS and Clubhouse Games are all good games for a casual gamer. Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk might work if you think she'd be into that kind of game. If she liked Puzzle Quest, then Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime are both good games, but different from what she's played thus far.

I'd so second Phoenix Wright, maaaaybe Hotel Dusk, but PW is a lot simpler. It's what I'd buy for my mother if she had a DS.

Also: play.com! Unless you have a particular reason to buy from gameplay.co.uk

Thanks alot guys! This was alot more help than I thought a troublesome forum newbie would warrent. I settled on Picross and maybe next time Zelda but for her its mainly her competing against herself for higher scores and the like.

    Again, thanks alot guys!
