Salvaging data with Knoppix

So in relation to the thread where I described a hard drive dying on me, I've burned a Knoppix CD to help me back up the data I want to save. Some of the directories on the drive are too far gone for windows to try to read and it's a pain to have to reboot because I open up one of those directories.

Now, the most convenient thing for me to do is to move that data onto another hard drive on my machine. However, both drives are NTFS and Knoppix by default can't write to that format. I've looked at tutorials online and one mentioned a CaptiveNFTS tool, but I can't find it anywhere in Knoppix. So what exactly do I need to do to copy data onto an NTFS drive in Knoppix 5.1?

I found that tilting it doesn't work very well, and once I started jerking it, I got much better results.

I'll add that another awesome distro is the Trinity Rescue Kit, since you can use it to easily boot a machine and have it share all your drives via Samba so that you can pull whatever you want from another networked Windows machine. This obviously won't help if you only have one machine at your disposal, but if you've got two, it works wonders. Aside from that, there's a bunch of good repair tools on there.

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?
