seriously im worried. these are truly the end of days. duke nukem forever is coming out, and the best nintendo ds game on the horizon is a sonic the hedgehog rpg by bioware.
So who else is as excited for Subspace Emissary itself as for the rest of Brawl?
It's just... so damn cool. There's never been a game with all of Nintendo's major characters that had an actual plot before. It's kind of like Kingdom Hearts, in that so many different characters who are all the favorites of different people are being thrown into one game with one goal.
I'm digging it. It's like Cartoon All-Stars To The Rescue, times a million and better, without being built around a PSA.
So what's the next mythical date that the Mega Man fans get to pin all their hopes and dreams on?
Or did the lack of an announcement for the 20th anniversary thoroughly crush those dreams into a fine powder?
Presumably, a third party character would have some kind of event to go with it (like Snake at E3 and Sonic at that thing he was announced at)...unless there isn't another third party character.
It's kind of up in the air, at this point.
I really don't think that Inafune can say anything about it until Sakurai does, or the game is released, whichever comes first. And even if he could, I don't think that he would, just out of respect to Sakurai.
And I very much doubt that some fan's question on a podcast that maybe a relative handfull of people listen to is where they'd want the news broken. They wouldn't even let one VA take credit for Krystal yet, remember (assuming she's really there as a playable)? I think he's just stalling, blowing smoke for now, hence the "there's still a few months left" bit. As it is, I'd like to think they'd give us a trailer or update on par with Snake and Sonic's debuts.
Of course, there is the outside chance that Capcom gave Nintendo a go-ahead without Inafune knowing; they've done it before on Mega Man (Mega Man X6), so it wouldn't be the first time, though Inafune is higher in the company now. Even then, it seems unlikely that Sakurai wouldn't get any input from Inafune at all on the matter.

Maybe, just maybe, Nintendo never got around to talking with Capcom. You guys ever think of that?
This has probably been mentioned a couple times before, but from the Kirby update we now know that Snake's regular b-move is a grenade toss.
IDK, but I don't remember a deeply rooted two sided trenchwar/argument
it will be...
1: Like Link's bomb, one press pulls it out, another throws it in your choice of direction
2: One press, he throws a grenade forward.
Here's hoping its option 1.5, one press, then an immediate direction to aim it(like one of the up-b moves melee lets you aim (fox, zelda, shiek, mewtwo, pikachu)

We've known that Snake's regular-b move is a hand grenade ever since the Snake: Special Moves update.
We also know you press the button once to pull it out, and again to throw; and that they explode after a short time. You can do a strong, normal, or soft throw.
Just heard (very late) that David Hayter leaked Jigglypuff's inclusion. I am happy.
While I really, really doubt that Jigglypuff got dumped, I would hardly call that interview a confirmation. He sounded like he was just tossing a random name out. It could very well be that he just thought of Jigglypuff since it's in the other two games, or that he meant some other Pokemon but said Jigglypuff because he doesn't know the names of 493 Pokemon.
I think that Jigglypuff was enough of a cert to stay, and the question was "which smash bros. brawl character would you most like to beat on," but who knows. If it was a long-shot character like Mega Man i'd be skeptical, but after that I'd be very surprised if Jiggly wasn't there. Like Capt. F, it's just a matter of time.
I really want Robotnik to show up in story mode alongside bowser. I was watching that new video and seeing Bowser with one just made me wish for it badly. I hope Sonic & Snake have a place within the story mode.

Snake all eatin' the Ultimate Chimera to get enough stamina to infiltrate Bowser's Castle.
Sonic all gettin' Samus to strip for him because he got her through planet Zebes faster than anyone ever before.
But really. If Robotnik doesn't show up with his wrecking ball boss from Sonic 1 in subspace, it's a massive opportunity missed. It's almost the perfect boss for the smash combat.
On Mega Man: I bet Nintendo sent out feelers to see if other third parties wanted anything to do with Brawl. Sega probably was like "Oh gos yes, and let's make an Olympics game while we're at it!" and everyone else was like "No thanks." As such, it would have been shut down pretty low in the chain and Inafune might not have even known Capcom got asked, especially if he's not friends with someone at Nintendo like Kojima/Sakurai.

What we need is a Bowser/Robotnik collaboration.
Something like a giant Bowser mech with a Robotnik head.
I swear to God I heard 1-2 third parties only and that was including Snake. I really don't think we're getting another third party character. Now, trust me, I would LOVE to be proved wrong, but I don't think we should be getting disappointed in a game in which we get to pit Mario vs Sonic vs Link vs Snake. I loves me some Blue Bomber (hell, I loves me some Strider too) but I just think we've gotta be happy with what we've got because it may very well be ALL we're going to get (as far as third party goes. If Luigi and Captain Falcon aren't in the game then my untamed fury may just end all life as we know it.)

You're thinking of the quote from the old Japanese website where he said there would probably be 1-2 more third party characters, after Snake. And it was never a definite statement and it's been a hell of a long time since it was said.

You know, if all the Nintendo villains are going to be in league with the Subspace Emissary, and it's becoming increasingly likely that most of the represented franchises will have a villain from their world in on the plan, I think the case for Mewtwo's return is stronger.
He's about as close to a villain as it gets in the Pokemon games proper. Well, there is Giovanni, but how would that work?

Sonic does, you can see him in the Subspace Emissary alongside Mario in the Sonic Joins the Brawl! video.

Yeah, it was 1-2 characters after Snake, not including. However, this definition could mean only Snake and Sonic are in, as 1-2 could just be 1.

There's always Team Rocket/Galactic/etc. to be the poke-villains. They don't have the level of seriousness that other villains might, but let's face it: as bad guys go, Bowser and Wario and Robotnik have all had their supremely incompetent moments, so it's not like Team Whatever would be particularly out of place. Furthermore, they're the type of villain that'd get the early story moving along: wimpy, easily intimidated, and talkative.

Yes, yes... a thousand times yes.
I also hope Kamek shows up to represent a Yoshi villian in subspace.
With their current Villain line-up consisting of Bowser and Wario (assisted by the Subspace army dudes) I can't see Mewtwo not being in, as really he's the perfect villain to represent the Pokemon series.

Don't forget Dedede.
If they wanted to replace Mewtwo with another Pokevillain, they could always go with, say, Gary. He could function like the Pokemon Trainer we have but with different Pokemon. Hell, that'd probably be more fun than Mewtwo anyway.

I didn't realize Mewtwo was a villain at all. I thought he was just a rare pokemon. What, is he bent on world domination?

In the game's continuity, Mewtwo was a failed clone of the mythical Pokemon Mew. It's extremely violent and reclusive. It's been sealed away in the Unknown Dungeon, and defeating it in RBY is the ultimate sign of your Pokemon mastery.
The anime takes it a little further. Mewtwo is created by Team Rocket, but being as or more intelligent than them, resents that it's being treated like a slave. Furthermore, it harbors deep hatred for humanity in general for what it sees as their abuse and exploitation of Pokemon, and for that reason wants to destroy mankind. He has a change of heart, however, after seeing how Ash's death causes Pikachu to fall to pieces, and revives him before going off to live a life of quiet solitude.
Personally, I think either Giovanni packing Golbat, Raticate, and Nidoking or Gary packing Blastoise, Alakazam, and Arcanine would be a much more iconic Pokevillain.
The Christmas Update had better be fucking Megaman.
Uh oh...
During a question/answer session in the latest Bionic Commando podcast (http://www.bioniccommando.com/en/downloads/view/49/1), Keiji Inafune lets us know that Mega Man isn’t in Brawl. His answer is pretty fun, and includes a little teasing throughout.
Well, I really do love Super Smash Brothers. It’s a great series…but, Nintendo hasn’t asked me yet if they can use Mega Man in their game. I’m still waiting…we have a little bit of time left, it’s not coming out for another few months. They might get around to asking us if we’d like to put Mega Man in Super Smash Brothers. Maybe if somebody from Nintendo is listening to this podcast, they’ll give me a call.
So there you have it…Inafune says no Mega Man in Brawl. I guess we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed for the next Smash Bros. game. Huge thanks to Tinker for the heads up.

Kamek would be a great charecter period. Hes a good villian that could have a varity of moves (since he's magic) and he dosent have to be a heavyweight like 90% of the other villians in the game.
