<Pikmin & Olimar>
pikmin.jpg

Goodness! Captain Olimar joins the fray with five colors of Pikmin in tow! He plucks Pikmin from the ground and they fight as his allies.

Without Pikmin, Olimar can’t even do a Smash Attack. And the short-lived Pikmin tend to scatter. Theirs is a fated symbiotic relationship.

Arrangement Supervisor: Yasunori Mitsuda

Choosing Pikmin music is a rather difficult thing to do. In trying to find a song that would be remembered by those who played the game...

I thought about areas that everyone would visit when starting and ending play, and thus chose this song.

Its arrangement came together in a smooth and lovely way. It conveys the remarkable Pikmin world. It’s nice.

Such Pretty Music
Series Represented
So far, we've been given a list of series that have been represented, but as we get this list, its come to us out of order. We currently have gaps as shown:

ssbbyq9.png
1. Smash Brothers
2. Donkey Kong
3. StarFox
4. Kirby
5. F-Zero
6. Metroid
7. EarthBound/Mother
8. Pokemon
9. Zelda
10. Mario
11. Yoshi
12. Fire Emblem
13. ???
14. Ice Climbers
15. Animal Crossing
16. Wario
17. Metal Gear
18. Kid Icarus
19. ???
20. Sonic the Hedgehog
21. Nintendo DS
22. Pikmin

*22 Is the highest number we're aware of, it in no way indicates that it is the final number

It seems that icons at least require a stage to exist, so just because an icon is out there doesn't nessecarily mean there's going to be a character featuring it.

    Forumer Contributions:

This section of the opening post will be dedicated to any forumer contributions made to this thread by way of creating something that will be helpful for organizing online play, the setup thereof, or sharing pertinent information such as user names and friend codes. In addition to this, there is now a portion explaining more advanced Smash terminology as well.

The Penny Arcade Super Smash Brothers Brawl Online Tournament List!
This is all organized courtesy of Nickle. It is planned to take place a week or two after the game comes out so people have a chance to practice. There are still plenty of spots available here if you want to sign up.

Here is the tournament list, which is more of a placeholder than anything else. People will have to reconfirm their desire to take part in the tournament when it arrives.
PM Nickle if you want to take part in this, there is no limit to how many users can join. Let's see if we can get this up to 128. Include your state (America) or province (Canada) please.

    Smash Brothers Community Terminology

This is a very thorough look at advanced Smash terms to help end confusion about them. ChopperDave wrote it and has this to say:
Whew, that took way longer than I thought it would

I wrote the first part of this guide myself, hopefully it does a decent enough job describing some of the most-confused terms. The other, lesser important terms I just lifted from a thread in Smashboards.

It's...long, so I've split it up over two posts. The first part is all most of you will want to read, anyway, the second part (from Smashboards) has got a lot of specific, kind of unnecessary terms. I deleted some of the MOST superfluous ones (BYOC = bring your own controller, for example ), but for the most part it remains intact. By the way, if there's any terms I forgot to add or didn't describe effeciently, please let me know.

    Without further ado...:
Here are Part 1 and Part 2 of the guide.

Here is something that could be considered Part 3 of the Smash Bros Terminology. It goes over common misconceptions about tournament players and seeks to help end the SmashBoards versus casual play arguments which always seem to pop up in these threads. Everyone should take a look at these discussions:

    Flash-based replica Brawl Stage Editor

This is a really cool page designed by mntorankusu, based around the Stage Creator update on the dojo. Here are some instructions and information.
Hold Ctrl and roll over the grid to quickly select squares. Hold Shift to quickly deselect.

This is a fan-made stage editor based on the one in the upcoming game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Little is known about the in-game editor, so I don't make any guarantees that this one will produce stages anything like the real game. If there are any glaring inaccuracies, contact me at mntorankusu at gmail dot com.

Also, you probably shouldn't let things overlap the wide triangle piece if you want to be able to reproduce your stage in the game. It is too difficult to disallow it in this Flash editor, but I'm fairly certain you won't be able to overlap pieces in Brawl's.

You might not be able to rotate them in Brawl either. D: Try not to be too disappointed if it turns out the stages you create using the rotate feature can't be reproduced in Brawl.

Click here to play it. Here is an example of what you can do.

Customizable signatures that display user names and friend codes.

Here is something that mntorankusu and Geod have been working on, which will allow people to easily put their favorite character and friend code in a fancy signature to help organize things once the game comes out. It allows you to choose your name, character, icon, friend code, and color of character. This is what they look like:

Wario has been seen using one in a video. He turned Zelda into trophy form with it. Presumably Bowser's is the same, and they have been given them by the Subspace Emissary.

Wario and Bowser are in the same area as Petey and Rayquaza (presumably a boss). Likely following the tried and true villain approach of sending a giant monster to do their dirty work before said monster is defeated and having to finish the work themselves.

I imagine King DeDeDe will be the next playable-character villain with a gun, with Ganon and the rest of the unlockable villains (Ridley!) following.

Thanks for making the thread again Joshua.

Also, thanks to whoever made those edits to the tourney stuff, it sounds better than whatever I had there.

I've been holding out on SMG because my little sister wanted it for christmas.

And the only Wii that'll be at home is mine, so we'll be playing some sweet, sweet co-op when I'm home for the break, and then I'm stealing it back.

So I'll have that. Also I'll have MGS : PO, KZ:L, M:UA, and Daxter.

Plus starting January 15th my schedule asplodes into horror again.

So what's the next mythical date that the Mega Man fans get to pin all their hopes and dreams on?
Or did the lack of an announcement for the 20th anniversary thoroughly crush those dreams into a fine powder?
Presumably, a third party character would have some kind of event to go with it (like Snake at E3 and Sonic at that thing he was announced at)...unless there isn't another third party character.

If you think about it, it's not really that long until things pick up again. Japanese launch is 1/24, and there will probably be some sort of leaks as it approaches. The full roster will no doubt be revealed within a day or two of the first people getting a copy. So it's really only a month or so of these updates, and then we'll have a flood of information to talk about for the next couple weeks until our release.

Yeah... I don't remember that either.

Of course, 10/10/07 was the day they officially announced Sonic (and we first heard of the delay); given the "I hope I can get this out in time" message on that notice, I think it was quietly shelved.

In a video that was recorded off-screen from a Subspace Emissary video that was playing at E4A. Wario used it on Zelda, I imagine in the game he'll use it on whichever princess you didn't save.

Edit: And if that's the video I'm thinking of, then that's one of Link's taunts. He's standing right beside Zelda, right?

Incorect! The correct choice is to save Zelda who is both hot and badass.
Also, she is unused to confinement ad probably wouldn't like it very much. Peach on the other hand might not even notice that she's been kidnapped again...:P

Also, in re: that video. Zelda and Link are both doing their taunts simultaneously to get that effect I think; hers is the cool glowy hand thing she does and the fairy is Link's

All I have to do is think of who I'd rather play as in the next level.

Smash-Zelda barely has an identity to me. Typically someone picking Zelda goes something like this:

Zelda Player: ARGH! I'm losing *Twinkly Transforming Noise*

It's like the incredible hulk or something.
