Ringing Ear?

For the past 3 or so hours my right ear's been ringing. Usually when this happens it goes away in a few minutes so this has me a bit worried. Does anyone have an idea on how long I should wait before I call a doctor?

    Any recent trauma?

If not, it may be tinnitis.

No, no recent trauma of any kind. Like I said, this happens fairly often but usually only for a couple minutes.

Couldn't hurt to talk to a doctor about tinnitis, especially if you say it happens fairly often.

I get that sometimes. For some reason, laying down for a bit tends to make it go away.

Probably hearing loss, happens a lot with people who work around loud equipment.

    You have some hydrogen peroxide?

Mix it half and half with lukewarm water. Put it in your ear. Drain it. Do this three or four times.

There's a good chance it's just a bunch of impacted earwax. This should clear it out.

I tried using some warm water earlier and got nothing, but I'll give this a shot, thanks.

You're going to want to let it sit until it stops bubbling. Personally, I just use straight hydrogen peroxide, but I've been told by other people that that's painful (it isn't to me).

You can get special ear-wax removing ear drops (basically the same stuff, dilute hydrogen peroxide I believe), which it might be better to use. You wouldn't want to pour neat hydrogen peroxide into your ear and discover a hole in your eardrum. And yes, it might be earwax, which as it's by far the easiest to sort out, it'd be a good place to start with.

Might be fluid in your ear too, try holding your nose, doing a yawning thing and blowing a bit (be gentle). You may be able to hear fluid moving about and air being forced in. It might help.
