to replace the old 16 inch CRT, they have a Radeon 9600 Pro I believe, will that be able to support, say, a 19 or 20 inch wide screen?

I googled to see what types of resolutions are supported by it and it looks ok but I couldn't find like a conclusive list of resolutions it supports and I'm not even sure they work like that(like if the monitor includes drivers that would give it the resolution or whatever, I dunno)

    Should be fine.

I just traded my 9600 XT in for a Geforce 8800gt (wow, eh?). I've been using it with a 17" for a while, with no problem. It did some crazy large resolutions...

it's a little later, but my 9800 pro can do a 21 inch widescreen resolution without a problem...

For regular computer stuff, they shouldn't have any problems. People had 21 and 23" CRTs in the 90s.

Assuming they don't play many games on the computer, or at least ones that take a good bit of video card power, it should be fine. It doesn't take much strain to run most software at decent resolutions(obviously with exceptions).

Yeah, you guys have to realize there is(or at least was) a pretty big difference between the 9600 and 9800. My dad's 9800pro machine ran BF2 on high settings with little slowdown, and medium with none...

Still, I think you should be fine. If it didn't work, I think you could probably get a pretty cheap card(Like, one of the cheapest X2XXX's) and it would work fine. But you probably wont need to even do that.

I'm fairly sure my Voodoo3 could support things over 1900x1600. No issues there.
