After playing GH3, RB's guitar is pathetically easy. There are only one or two songs in the entire game that I actually have to pay attention to on expert. I would say the songs are about as difficult as GH1's package, but the songs themselves are much worse than GH1's soundtrack.

Cool, now try singing while playing. It's what I do. I honestly don't have much fun playing any one instrument anymore-- I've been spoiled. Typically expert guitar or bass + hard or expert vocals.

I will say the one thing that pisses me off about this game is that sounding like the original recording is not something you WANT to do in order to get 100% on most songs.

Yes. It also wasn't nearly as bad as the RATM cover in GH2. It's still by far the worst cover I've heard, ever, by any band, or anything, video game or not. In every universe, on every plane of existence in every dimension, everywhere.

I honestly didn't think it was that bad. Besides, you must not have ever heard Avril Lavigne's cover of Chop Suey... My ears bleed a little just thinking about it.

The only thing about Killer Queen that got me was the keyboard fill-ins being guitar. As a matter of fact, pretty much any song that made you play guitar for keyboard/synth notes kind of irks me.

So I'm toying with Expert Vocals on some of the familiar songs. So far that limits me to the first 5 tracks in solo career, Dani California, Electric Version, and Don't Fear The Reaper. Anything else is hit or miss or I rely on Overdrive to save my ass.

So, after getting frustrated to no end by being trapped on Suffragette City on expert guitar, I decided it was high time I learn to double-strum well. So i started my expert career over.

JEEZ is this hard! I mean I know it'll make things a lot easier once I've got the skill down, but learning it is driving me crazy. I just bombed on The Hand That Feeds.

GameStop is listing the Strat and Drums for early February. The pricing on the site says extras will run around $80. However, there hasn't been any official word yet from Harmonix.

Anyone know if just the instruments will be available? I'm interested in buying just the game now, playing with my GH3 controller, and then later buying only the drums. If the only way to get the drums is via a drum+game bundle, that means I'd have to wait until that's out, otherwise I'd be buying the game twice.

Wait. Are you saying that Disturbed's cover of Land of Confusion was bad? 'Cause if you are, I'ma have to disagree. As a fan of the original Genesis version, I thought Disturbed did an excellent job of covering it as a rock song. In fact, I think it'd make a great song for Rock Band. Singing is awesome, why don't you want a mic?

I thought the headset also counts as a mic? Also, singing is great but I have plenty of friends who have Rock Band and I figure I can borrow their mic if I ever want to do Solo Tour singing.

The headset does work, but it's pretty lame. Like playing guitar sitting down. But it makes sense if you have friends who can bring one over.

The headset sucks because it's an omni-directional microphone head. It will pickup the sounds from all around the room, easily feedbacking and generally sounding like ass. If you have someone playing drums, the tone of the strike of the drums will also negatively affect your score on vocals. The microphone which comes with the game is unidirectional and avoids this problem.

After listening around, for a nice mellow song, Lake Michigan would be nice for Rock Band:

Also, that damned PS3 commercial is making me believe that Ladies and Gentlemen would be a nice song in Rock Band.

So I RMA'd my XBOX 360 guitar about a month ago, recieved the box for it, mailed it off, then a week ago came the UPS guy with the usual "boy we're getting a lot of these!" and I sign for the package and there it is...empty. I look on the box and it says PLAYSTATION 3 guitar.

Wow, somebody must've been having a crappy day in shipping because I even see on the packing list:

    Description: XBOX 360 guitar

    Qty: 1

    Weight: 5 lbs

Five pounds my ass! Anyways, I write EA customer support back this:
I sent in my xbox 360 guitar (RMA # xxxxxxxxxx)in to be replaced because of a broken strum bar. I received an empty box for a PS3 guitar. The packing list description says there should be one Xbox 360 Guitar (product number 158711). It shipped from 24450 Glendale, Redford, MI 48239. I hope this issue can be resolved promptly, I will have waited for over a month with no guitar for my awesome game. Thanks for your help and I look forward to your reply.

Note: that picture attachment was a scanned copy of the packing list.

    They reply:
    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Technical Support.

Since you requested for the Standard Replacement, you will need to use the box to send in your faulty guitar to us. Once we received your faulty item, we will then send you the replacement.

If you have any other questions, then by all means feel free to let us know. You can also refer to our extensive Self Help Knowledgebase at http://support.ea.com for common technical questions.

    Apparently, Marlon, TL;DR eh? :x

So I'll break it down for ya, Marlon V.:
You misunderstood my problem. My problem is:

I requested a RMA box for my XBOX 360 guitar.

    I got the box.

I put my broken XBOX 360 guitar in the box then mailed it via UPS.

    I waited.

I received an empty PLAYSTATION 3 box.

I look at the packing list (see attachment) and it specifically says that it's a 5 pound box that includes an XBOX 360 guitar.

Now I'm pretty much screwed because you guys sent me an empty PLAYSTATION 3 box with a packing list that says that it was an ACCURATE shipment of the guitar I SHOULD have received. I hope this issue can be resolved promptly.

    Thank you,

    Chris

Yeah, I know, kind of an asshole response but seriously, it'll have been a month and a half before they get this all straightened out and like I pointed out, IF they even believe me and my word over their shipping department.

    Sigh.:|
