I can hear the headset come on when I plug into both the drums and the Strat, but apparently nobody can hear me. I've tested the headset by making a voice message and it recorded just fine. I know I've heard that these things don't hook up to the headset very well, but is there not a thing I can do to get them working?

Man, I got some gum rubber pads for my drums and they are so awesome I can't even believe it... I can't imagine a single reason why the drums weren't made like this in the first place. The rebound is 100x better, they're almost completely silent, and the sensitivity is basically unchanged (I don't think I could hit it softly enough to miss while actually playing a song).

Tonight, yeah, there was a guest present. Although the other night when I had a guy playing with me that had his account transferred over onto my box, ad then before that, I was playing by myself with another guy over the intarweb and I still don't think it was coming across.

All right, I'm down to just Flirtin' With Disaster and GG&HH before my Expert Guitar career is complete. Both are going to require some practice, and to be honest I may never bother to beat the latter.
And I STILL can't get a gold star on Should I Stay or Should I Go.

Oh man. don't even get me started on gold starring Blitzkreig Bop. Full combo'd it? Not good enough. You need the best goddamn star power path ever to get that shit.
Anyone messed with the drums much? I've felt the guitar in RB is pretty simple with some of the songs taking more attention etc. But the drums seems like such a pain. Maybe my rhythm simply isn't up to it but I just don't hear the drums well enough to play it by ear.
I'm on the expert drum tour, done every lower difficulty, and the only times I've heard the drum track is when I'm singing or guitaring. The trick to drums is maybe 20% knowing the songs drum track (more for Maps and Electric Version, maybe), 20% knowing the game and 60% having a good sense of rhythm.
yeah bass pedal is definitely my weak point too. I've finally gotten to the point where I can do eighth note successions nearly flawlessly, but god help me if I think about what I'm doing.
Flirting With Disaster DONE. I am so happy to have finished the guitar career on Hard. Now to finish off my expert run (it'll take several weeks I'm sure).

Yeah for me it just sucks. I can do the first 2 or 3 sets easily.
But on sections with independent bass kicks, it just throws me off. Like Reptilia with the simple looking....

The key is instead of focusing on pressing the pedal in between pad hits, to focus on raising your leg at the same time as the pad hits. Then, in your mind, the actions of your leg and your arms are synchonized.
In case anyone still wondered. Sprode on the OXM disc is the same song as SuperSprode from Amplitude. Its also the first song Ive gotten 100% on Expert Guitar, though I overstrummed a couple times and didn't full combo it.

It's actually a bit less electronic-y so it sounds better in Rock Band.

I'm pretty decent at the game, but for the life of me i cant 100% any damn thing. It's like at some point my brain is just like "watch this, it pisses him off so bad" and fucks me up.

question about scoring on vocals. Ok, so on anything other then expert, you only have to sing on key for part of the section to keep your streak alive, correct?
Does continued singing on key increase your score?
I hit 100% (medium) on Interstate Love Song but I think I can do better scorewise, yet I don't know how.

So its basically a new version of the same song. It was close enough that my friend who actually played Amplitude was like "Hey, its that song from Amplitude". I never actually played it myself, but from the YouTube video I saw of Super Sprode on it, I would love to see them release Amplitude on XBLA.

I just ordered a set of these so I'm glad it wasn't a waste
Is there anyone out there doing a kick pedal mod for sale? I swear every time I double kick I feel like I'm about to snap that poor thing in half.

Yes, on the higher difficulties you literally have to be playing the drums at a speed where you don't think about the notes on-screen, you just see them and hit them.
I find my accuracy with the kick pedal decreases if I actually try to tell myself "okay now here's a double kick, single kick" or whatever.

I'm currently looking into this very thing.
Either: buy a $50 bass drum pedal from a music shop and bodge something together such that the beater moves a magnet closer to the RB pedal's reed switch when it strikes its target
Or: buy a $50 bass drum pedal OR a $100 double bass drum pedal, plus a $40 electronic bass drum trigger. Step 3 is ???? but step 4 is surely profit. I'm thinking step 3 may involve a few dollars in parts from digikey and some soldering.
(Benefit to this approach is: using a real kick pedal you have durable hardware, AND since an actual beater is whacking against a percussive surface of some kind, you get impact vibration and bounce-back force you can feel in your foot. None of this RB pedal "push the pedal all the way down, but it actually triggered a moment before it bottomed out" mushy imprecise crap. When you feel the beater strike the pad, that's the moment the pedal hit is registered in the game.)
Per my local drum shop, I'm calling the tech help line for this bass drum trigger manufacturer and asking about interface specs. Stay tuned.

I'm now consistently getting to 90% or 94% on GGHT expert before failing out. It is really starting to drive me insane.
On a more positive note, I beat medium drums and am halfway through hard and I think my leg is finally starting to get the hang of things.
[Edit]: Just don't ask my wife about my vocal career...
OK, according to Pintech, their Ergokik is basically a piezo element wired directly to that quarter-inch jack, packaged in nice-looking thick aluminum that mates up perfectly with a bass drum pedal. Digikey sells piezo elements for something like $2 each, so that means I'd be spending $38 of that $40 on solid aluminum and a rubber impact surface (and a brand name.)
I would absolutely need an interface circuit to make that work. The Score Hero forums have some sample circuits available -- I might have to go try to build one.

And I thnik to myself "wow, I'm doing really well at keeping the beat despite how fast this is going. How am I keeping the beat, anyway? I'm not even counting or keeping track of the pattern. I don't know how I'm able to do this! I *shouldn't* be able to do this...
*GONk*
And then I'm suddenly back to the level of uncoordination I was at when I just started fiddling with the drums. Combined with the right arm and leg cramps I realized I had developed and I could barely even find the rhythm of alternating the cymbals and bass drum near the end.
The Medium gigs were starting off pretty good yesterday, just need to avoid playing for extended sessions.
If Frets on Fire ever came to the consoles all you people would go crazy, that game has just about every song known to man on it. Just downloaded like a 1000 songs made for the game and I don't even know which one to do first.
I think some Cult of Personality - Living Color is in order.
I hope the Monkees cover is good, that could be fun. Not sure about the other two, will have to give them a listen. HMX continues to release DLC following no particular pattern...makes it fun. Never know what we'll see from week to week.
