    So...Green Grass & High Tides...

I managed to get to it on expert drums. My leg basically ran out of juice. So many bas notes. So many minutes. It was horrible...

Paranoid and Vasoline are both also very horrid. Paranoid with the bass pedal notes and Vasoline with...well, being complicated.

I want to know what is coming out this week. I also want it to be liquid awesome. Is there going to be an announcement on Monday or just an abrupt posting on Tuesday?

I'm praying for some classic rock, honestly.

This radio station is doing some super long year end countdown of basically non-stop awesome bands from the 60s to 90s and a lot of them would be sweet.

I beat Green Grass and High Tides on hard guitar almost on accident. I was trying to play Flirtin with Disaster and somehow ended up on GG&HT without realizing it. The song started and I was like shit, but I beat it! Flirtin with Disaster is the only one that I have left now, that solo is killin me.

Heya, quick question that I can't seem to find a real accurate answer to... The strum bar on the strat versus the gh guitars: the strum bar on my strat, feels, well, worse. First, on the strat, it isn't -hard- to press, but rapidly downstrumming tires out the thumb a lot faster than on a gh guitar, and it seems to pop back into place more slowly as well. Even when I double strum it feels very imprecise, kind of mushy or something, just plain not good. Is this the standard for the strat or am I in hardware failure RMA zone? I'm really hoping my strat is messed up, it feels like I'm fighting the guitar rather than being challenged by the game, so if mine is the standard, ugh D:.

Nope that's how the strum bar actually feels. Kinda blows.

Vasoline expert on drums is pretty hard, I had to bail my buddy out with my overdrive twice on it.

On expert guitar its a joke though.

So I can 4-5 star most drum songs on medium, and 3-4 many of them on hard.

I beat Maps on Expert thanks to the in game animation.

In the last thread, someone posted the video of Maps - Drums Expert and I wanted to try it for hilariousness sake. I got through most of it, but could not figure out how to do the trip notes. My body would just go totally nuts when those came up if I tried to hit them. So I would just ignore them and see how long I could get in maps, to the amusement of my friends.

Then, when playing with the band, we did a random song set and I got maps. Since I do random sets on medium (after having ride the lightning on hard...), I was ready to sleep through most of it. I knew the notes by heart and actually started watching the drummer and saw him use the left hand to hit the middle notes of the trips. The whole song clicked right then and there.

Anyone else have any other epiphanies like that?

Does anyone have any tips for going from medium guitar to hard? I tried Say It Ain't So in practice at like 70% speed on hard and even then I only got 80%. I can only seem to get the orange note about half the time, and sliding down to get it totally gets me lost on the fretboard.

It's frustrating because I can pretty much sleep through every song on medium, but I just get murdered on hard.

I'd play GH 2 and 3 a bunch, the songs are more technical and you'll get the hang of sliding to the orange note fairly fast.

Don't slide to the orange note. Keep your index finger on red, and slide your index up to green when necessary. It's much easier than sliding your pinkie down.

Fuck yes, I finally got this today.

It was a bit of an adventure actually. My friends and I called the local Future Shop about an hour after it opened. They said they had three left, so we ran over there (only about a 10 minute walk) and stormed in. There was only one sitting there. We were about to rock paper scissors for it, but then we saw that one of our friends was working that day. He said there were three more in the back, something the other employees were withholding from us. He smuggled them out for us just as some other guy snapped up the one on the floor. All four boxes left the store in about five minutes.

So yeah, it's fucking awesome, just as I expected from Harmonix. I'm done the Expert guitar tour and about halfway through the Hard drum tour and loving every minute of it. Now if they get Band World Tour online, I will be on fucking cloud nine.

Doing that just makes it Different-Medium as you would still be using just 4 frets. Also, chords.

I had a lot of trouble going from Medium to Hard as well. What got me through it was keeping my fingers focused on the lower four frets (red through orange) as much as possible. It's much easier to reach for the green fret with your index finger than to reach for the orange one with your pinky.

Sometimes orange notes are rare so practice switching from upper-four to lower-four. If you see orange notes coming don't just reach for them as they come, but move your hand down until the orange notes stop or lots of green comes.

Also try never using your pinky to help get used to moving your hand around a lot, as you will ultimately need to do so for Hard and Expert.

Reguarding bassists leaving: I tend to play as the bassist online anyways, as there is usually someone who is immensely better at guitar than I am. So if a bassist is ever in need, i'm your man.

However, that offer won't be good for the next few days while my broken guitar gets RMA'd. So for now i'll be trying to plow through solo drum career. Vocals come next.

Emo has been bastardized and commercialized SO much. What the kids today call emo is nothing more than pop punk.

thank you. the term is so misused its ridiculous. i also love the misuse of 'screamo' when the bands labeled as such are nothing like saetia

The funny thing is, I can't stand what you diehard semanticists refer to as "emo", "screamo" or, apparently, "pop punk". It's all equally terrible.

I've only classified emo as "my parents don't understand me and I haven't been hugged enough" music, so yes linkin park's first album.

I hate emo. Not as music but as a label. Emo is one of those labels that have nothing to do with anything. If their was Emo music there is not, now, at least none that I have seen. Its a label used by people who arn't into the music of today or only some of it. Its a label as stupid as Pop-Punk but with even less barring in reality.

When did it become bad that music could be depressing? Yeah Emo is supposedly "whinny" but someone just called Nirvana Emo none of it is whinny. Even other bands labeled "emo" lack anys sort of whine "Fall Out boy" is as often happy as it is sad and less troubled as it can be sarcastic. "Panic at the disco"(both of which are something more like dance rock" is nearly always up-beat. And My Chemical Romance is more angry than anything.

Not that any of those bands are emo just mistakingly called emo an awful lot.
