So after finally kicking my arse in gear earlier on this year, I finally completed ICO.
Then I saw SOTC on clearance at Amazon for £8.99 and couldn't help myself. It arrived this morning, at my parents house (where I am over Christmas).
My PS2 is at Uni, but my Sisters boyfriend has a PS3 and
nice Viera telly which I can play any time.
It is a 60gb Pal console, I am not sure exactly what that means from a SKU standpoint. Will playing SOTC be better on this PS3 or my PS2 and old-ish SD 28" widescreen. I don't know if it will be upscaled/have graphical issues on the PS3, and would prefer to play it on which ever is best, I don't even know if rumble is relavent to gameplay particularly.
Also, how long is one sit through, I can probably fit in 10 hours or so whilst I am still at my parents, I wouldn't want to leave the game halfway through, and not be able to play again til easter.
When you complete ICO, it unlocks another cool feature for future playthroughs, does SOTC do a similar thing (don't tell me what it is, I just want a yes/no answer)
Cheers.

The game is pretty short, I finished it for the first time (with a lot of deaths) at under 12 hours. You'll want to start again almost immediately though.
Yes, you get cool things when you beat SotC. Some very neat things. Also, the cool stuff in ICO isn't in the NTSC, so I hate you now.
I gotta agree here, though I don't want to dissuade you at all. If it's what you have to do, then do it by all means. I just get the feeling, from the way my hands always ended up gripping the controller, they meant for you to feel like you were actually grasping something as you climbed each colossus. Tactile response is pretty important for the effect.
Are people running it with upscaling just because they didn't poke around in the game options to set 16:9 progressive scan? You'll notice it kick out of 1080p upscaling when you do this, but real detail > false detail, so I do this. Basically, I'm asking you guys to confirm that you know and compared results before suggesting interlaced and upscaled over progressive scan upscaled by your TV (or not).
Go to Settings > Game Settings on the XMB.
That's the PS3 bootup menu right? I really don't know how to use a PS3...
Yep.
I have to agree that rumble is sorely missed. It really adds a lot of depth to gameplay when you're trying to hold onto some crazy flying bird that dumps your ass in the lake over and over.
I picked up the DS3 off of ebay and found that it handled the game fairly well, however, I didn't think the horse trotted so violently. It comes across as really sharp and violent. Otherwise, flawless and very subtle. Perhaps there'll be an update that will allow us to adjust the feedback.
**Short version** Get the Dual Shock 3 and wait to play it the way it was meant to.
Well, I have upscaling "on" but it simply isn't active after enabling progressive scan in the game. I'm looking for confirmation that someone with a 80GB NTSC or any PAL unit with BC has done both and that their TV still reports 1080p. Without checking your TV, you'd probably just assume that it's still being upscaled because you enabled it, but that isn't the case on a 60GB or 20GB NTSC machine.
They extend your grip stamina and such.
The fruit on certain trees increases your health, and the white-tailed lizards increase grip. You can only find white-tailed lizards on save towers, you can eat the black-tailed ones running around but it doesn't do anything.
I have a 60GB and it does the same thing. Just leave progressive off and 16:9 on while setting upscale to Normal (whatever setting it takes to turn it on without stretching). I personally don't like stretching it's so obvious that it's happening.
I've looked it through 1080i, 720p, and 480p. Upscaling really does only 1 thing: reduce jaggies. But in PS2 games like Shadow, it was a real problem for me when I played them on the PS2.

There are white-tailed lizards roaming around other areas as well, though you probably won't find too many of them without assistance of some sort. They're often near entrances to areas containing a collosus. For a bit of long-distance target practice, search the ceiling of the main temple.
They're nearly impossible to find on your first play through though.
Anyway, funny you should mention this since I just had the same thought earlier today. See, I just got my HDTV a couple of days ago and SotC is the one PS2 game I'm curious to see upscaled.
Btw, you did get the good versions of SotC and Ico, right? The ones with the art cards?
A save from ICO does something while playing SotC? Please elaborate.
Does anyone know what Team ICO is doing right now? I know they are working on something, a game of course, but was there anything in the news I have missed?
It was hard transitioning from God of War 2 to this game because of the arcade-ness feel of GoW vs. the more real controlling scheme of Shadow. I'm fully immersed now though.

- Agro has a white diamond between his eyes normally. If you have an Ico save, the diamond is replaced with the stylized I found in the Ico logo.
- Team ICO is reportedly working on the third of the 'series.' Little else is known besides the fact that they put out an job announcement in Famitsu.
That's not it. Think about it for a second. One way or another you will find out, but it is that much better if you figure it out for yourself. This may be cryptic, but once you see it...
There are rumors that Team Ico are in fact working on two PS3 games. One is a HD upgrade of SotC, with a steady framerate and will be distributed over the PSN. The other is the third in the 'series'.
