After Venture I've realized I shouldn't join games with unfamiliar themes. I just can't get into the game without it.
Stuff like Greatwood was okay, because it was pretty general, as was the FF one. But Venture was so theme-centric I soon lost the ability to keep up.

Yeah, I had no clue who was on my side in the narrations unless their name specifically said "Venture" in it.
However, I went into the Disgaea game with a similar lack of knowledge and seemed to have no problem there. I think it was because there was a lot of public discussion and theorizing about roles that allowed me to fill in the gaps. Whereas in the Venture one, we had like twenty inactives.
Sorry about that, usually the players take charge pointing things out... but the inactives kinda screwed us I think.
I tried to use colors to differentiate. If you would have asked me to explain who is what and such I would have been happy to explain.
Not to mention that one of the last days narrations told you exactly who was on the other team.
I wonder what that game would have been like if people actually paid attention to it :P
Edit: Also, come on guys! This is our chance to bandwagon thorgot day 1! I don't even know who this other guy is >_<
hell pickin' the dude that wants to pick on the new guy for winnin' a joke phalla doesn't sound that evil to me
plus it's proven science that thorgot is a butt and is probably evil.
and seein' as how it's a miniphalla, I'm gonna hamper a guess that evil folk are networked. Which would mean those people jumpin' to choose the new guy over thorgot the butt are total jerks.
but then that'd make for too many evil dudes, or the evil dudes are just way more active than good guys right now

I feel like no-retractions are easier to track if you're using a spreadsheet, but simple scroll-n-counts need retractions to increase accuracy. But that's just been my experience.
