I've known a boomkin who could put out silly DPS, he would regularly top the meters before he quit. in the earlier raiding days though he was an aggro whore, he once got me killed on my warrior during prince by being higher than me on aggro for enfeeble. That drilled it into him and he'd regularly use dreamless sleep potions on longer fights for little aggro breaks, though it was funny seeing him bitch when he was dispelled. One of my arena partners can reach 1K+ damage too, so it's entirely possible to be a powerhouse, just aggro can be a problem if you aren't awake and aware.
So...what's a good place to level horde-side at level 42? I've done most of the quests I can find in Badlands, and most of the Tanaris and Feralas quests are orange. I know I somehow did this on my main, but that was almost a year ago. Any help?
I'd say go to Alterac Mountains/the Hinterlands/Swamp of Sorrows and the lower end of STV. If you havn't been there already then there should be a bunch of level appropriate quests or mobs. I spent a lot of time there on horde side back in the day levelling at least.

It's boring, but farm the shit out of tanaris bandits for their water pouches. Then get faction ++ for the whole cartel. It's nice starting WS quests at friendly or above, versus neutral. Then you can move to pirates after a level or two. Also try and PUG ZF as much as possible while over there, and get all those quests done.

Whether they find a life there or not, I think Jupiter should be called an enemy planet.
Can I ask for some help? Just hit 60 and want to grab my epic mount, but I'm still 200 gold off. So, what kind of grinding do people suggest for getting that 200 gold at level 60? I was thinking about getting a PVP epic, but out of the 17 or so AV's I've been in I've managed to see 1 win, so getting marks isn't easy
Thanks for any help/suggestions
What are your professions? If they're gathering, just go grind out that. And you should make 200g off the profits from the AH. I had mining/skinning and made all my money off grinding out the levels for mithril/thorium.
So I finally ground out 29. Love being 30 lock. I get to have the joy of learning to draintank and exploring Desolace at the same time. Besides Desolace, where can a n00b 'lock go for questing?

I'm sometimes grumpy and random, feel free to overlook the strange man in the corner.
Stranglethorn Vale quests start at 30. Lovely zone, there will be a stealthed rogue (usually level 70) waiting for you behind every tree. Great fun!
When a friend harassed me to roll a character on Shadowmoon (US) I found that they didn't even bother stealthing. I could see a rogue jumping in plain sight at Nessingwary's camp.
Desolace and Dustwallow Marsh were my friends.

Thanks for the suggestions, grinding mithril now, easier to do then thorium and goes for the same amount on the AH.
Also, don't go to STV at 30. I did that on my first toon, and left at level 39. Hating everything.
Nah, still in Archaic Legion. But a bunch of our people went to Bonerhound when we imploded back in March, and we had a long chat on vent last night and that pic popped up in the conversation.
Oh man. That's the best Spoonerism I've seen all week. It can't compare to Wark of the Mild, though.
Sadly I can't take credit for it, it's the name of one of their 5v5 teams. :P

Try either:
cmd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
or:
cmd
ipconfig /flushdns
Either one tends to work, I prefer simply renewing, but the DNS flush seems to work consistantly for others.

No dice on either of those, or rerequesting an IP adress.... I was able to log onto the forums though. I guess they'll fix it by the time I can get to play next (monday afternoon).
I haven't played in quite a while, but it seems that I'm eligible for that Scroll of Resurrection thingy, they've got going. Maybe I should get one of my friends to send me one of those.
I was in Ramparts with a Boomkin once, we also had a shadow priest, and a feral druid. The Feral Druid was in Bear form so I figured he would be the tank.
Unfortunatly evertime someone healed him they would pull aggro from the adds and we would come close to a wipe. Or would wipe. He was level 70 so maybe his problem was rage production.
Boomkin and Shadowpriest ended up sharing healing duties since I was a Warrior and the other party member was a mage.
Also, I heard that they added voicechat to the game a while back. Is it any good?
No.
Also, mages are awesome.
whats wrong with it? people talk, you can hear them. even better, you actually know who is speaking
because its a pain in the ass to get properly configured, it breaks everytime you relog and you have to reconfigure it, anyone who actually HAS a microphone probably has Vent anyway, and anyone who doesn't have Vent won't have a microphone, and anytime you actually NEED voice chat, ie, in raids, you should be using Ventrilo anyway.
Also, you have to be logged in to WoW for it to work. You can't have guildies or friends just hang out and chat while they surf or have them be on to explain that they got disconnected and now there's a 100 person queue to get back in, etc. Plus the microphone settings I need to use to make myself audible on wow voice chat make my voice ear-splittingly loud on vent servers and the sound quality is terrible.
I still can hardly believe that this was what pushed back the 2.2 patch for the entire summer. What a fiasco.

this.
one of the most useful aspects of Ventrilo is the ability to tell whether its your Internet connection that just caused you to disconnect, or whether the problem is on Blizzard's end.
Apparently the next patch currently in testing on the PTR disables the Nagle Algorithm, supposedly improving network latency, especially for people playing WoW internationally.
Some people suggest that the Nagle Algorithm is artificially inflating ping times by as much as 40% (around 160ms on a 400ms ping), once again proving that Blizzard has absolutely no idea what they're doing.
My question is: Did Blizz implement the Nagle through a patch, or was it always in there? It seems to me that it's always been in there, since my ping time to WoW servers in-game was always ridiculously high.
Nagle was always in there but with the switch in GCD/shifting/casting calculations to be mirrored clientside it's now not helping in any way whatsoever which is why it's so noticable now.
So theres a guildie who's been in my guild for a few weeks now, and he irritates me to no end. He types like a 5 year old and every other thing he says is either "Cn sum1 run me thru ulda/zf/sm/wherever is level appropriate for him at the time" or "how much is X worth?" where X is something like an of the boar or whale green or a grey.
Tonight I saw this in gchat, and everything I'd thought about him suddenly made sense.
He then proceeded to talk about how much he missed the chuck norris jokes and about how much he missed playing hordeside...

Why? Why do you tempt me so knowing that I cannot transfer pve to pvp?
Why does the only run for the horde cost 1k gold.
Sigh $125 is allot of money to transfer even if I leave my alts behind $25 is not something to make a snap decision about
macro hasn't worked since the GCD changes. FUCKING AMAZING.
to clarify: If I'm mid-cast and press this is does literally nothing (doesn't even cancel the cast!)
The best part, my Polymorph Macro that prevents me from scrambling to find Moon when it breaks early and goes nuts doesn't even target my focus(Sheep), even if I'm not casting.
Shit, it doesn't even GIVE ME a focus, or cast Polymorph.
Great job, Blizzard. You made my Frostbolt more efficient(read: lazier) while breaking every stopcasting macro.
Oh well. It's fun to listen to my friend bitch that it nerfs Hunters by screwing up their rotation.

i imagine he tagged along on the raids until it dropped, the idea being he'd have to pay out the wazooo for it when it did drop.
