I've got the level 1 starting dagger from undead's enchanted with fiery I throw to any new character that can use daggers.
In retrospect, I should have picked a slower weapon, cause it doesn't proc worth shit on a 1.5 speed weapon or whatever that dagger is. I would do it over with a slower weapon, but my char slots are all filled up

Also last night I saw this guy dual boxing (quintuple boxing?) 5 shammies in AV. Was the coolest thing I've ever seen. Chain lighting x 5 followed by lighting bolts x5 then chain heal x5 at the end of the fight. He had all the characters named the same as well samalama somethingarather. I don't think I did anything in AV cause I was to busy just running around following him laughing my damn ass off. He'd come up to the GY's and just bam chain lighting dead guards

Like PVP gear, the badge gear is mostly just an alternate route for gearing up. The badges, like honour and arena points, let you choose your reward after a set period of working towards it, rather than relying on the RNG.
Sure, you CAN go into a raid instance and, group and RNG permitting, walk away with 8 upgrades in one night.
Or you can go months and months and months and months without the ________ you've wanted for so long to drop.

Well if you're running kara you can use the badge gear to fill gaps or make up for the RNG screwing you over. Considering you get what; 20+ badges from a full Kara clear?
I ran a whole lot of heroics to gear up before I was even in a raid guild. To the point where, when I was invited out of LFG channel to go tank someone's Kara run, I showed up as the most geared person there and have been guild MT ever since.

I thought the bubble of paladins could be unmagiced by a priest/shaman or the fel hunter? I had not tired it until last night in WSG againist a 5 paladin and various others allaince raid. I tired to devour the magic and nothing happened?

You can Mass Dispel it. Unless something's changed since last I checked, it's immune to anything short of that. (save some PvE boss mechanics that go through it) And that's only for Divine Shield; Blessing of Protection (the bubble with the huge bright crown over it) isn't immune to any magic and is dispellable by any dispel.

Nah, it's still only vulnerable to Mass Dispel.
In regards to heroics: It's pretty much a way for casual people to experience harder, end gameish, content without having to commit to raids/raiding guilds. It's a good idea. With the 2 most recent heroic content revisions, the gap in gear is getting smaller. Since casuals can now get pretty good items for their time invested.

My first time against him the party wiped, but then we cleared the rest of the instance out with no problems. It was a frustrating trip for me because a BS pattern dropped on trash and the paladin won it.

The first time I went on my warlock at level 70 everyone else was about 65/66. We almost wiped on the first boss because when he stares at someone it's time to flee away from them. I lived and everyone else died so I guess I solo'd him?
An epic Bs plan dropped for me and the warrior rolled need because he claimed he was a Blacksmith. I knew this to be a lie because he spammed the trade channel with his enchants.
I haven't logged on for a few days, and when I did log on, I found my 3 main characters stripped of all their gear, and hidden throughout the worlds. My druid was hidden somewhere in Barrens. My paladin was dead at the bottom of a lake in Terrokar. My druid was in some cave in the Barrens. Finally, my mage was left in the cave in the NE starting area. With nothing, except all my pets, a Green Winter Hat and my Big Iron Fishing pole.
Some of my other guildies were in on it, apparently, and were giving me hints as to where some of my stuff might have gone.

We had a serious balance talk tonight that only served to cement my thoughts about going ret instead of holy.
Holy paladins just don't scale as good for healing as other classes, not to mention the serious hurt of not having any instant panic buttons that doesn't blow all our mana. My panic button is a DF Holy Light, which has slightly more than 2.5 seconds cast time.
Now if I go ret instead we can have two judgements up on stuff, since we nearly always have me and a prot pally in 25-mans.

There's pieces there that you won't find elsewhere, such as the Brooch of Deftness.
On the other hand, this was all before the really nice 2.3 badge gear was added.
Chestguard of the Stoic Guardian comes instantly to mind. Along with Azure Shield of Coldarra (any tank) and Libram of Repentance.
