Wireless Network issue

Hello, I've been asked to help fix a problem with somebodies wireless network, and I've hit a brickwall in terms of solutions.

The laptop they are trying to connect, can see the network in the list of available networks, but when they try and connect, they get an "Unable to Connect" message pop up, and thats all the information it gives, which is helpful.

So I've checked the security settings, which are set up correctly (correct WEP key, encryption type and so forth), I've even disabled it entirely to check to see if thats an issue, and no joy. I've also tried disabling the firewall in case that was causing issues.

Signal strength shouldn't be an issue as both devices are in the same room, and the laptops reporting 100% signal strength.

The router is a BT home hub, and the adapter is some internal Intel card.

When connecting using an ethernet cable, there is no problem, as well.

This is starting to drive me mad as I know it will no doubt be a stupidly simple solution and I've just overlooked it, so any pointers will be greatly appreciated!

Most, if not all (afaik) laptops have an external toggle switch for the wireless card.
Having this turned off produces a simple "unable to connect" iirc, have you checked that?

Yes, checked to make sure that this was toggled on, and it was.

If MAC address filtering is enabled, did you make sure that the laptop's MAC is registered with the router?
