What are your Persona like? By that level you should be able to take him out pretty easily.
Well, it seemed in the battle like my personas made no difference at all. My character was the only one that could actually damage the thing, yet I couldn't actually damage it since I had to babysit my entire party with healing since they were too damned dumb to do it themselves. My teammates could barely hit for over 100 sometimes. The last arcana they were only doing 30-60 damage.
I just purchased a PS3 and I never got to finish Persona 3 while I was in the US. I am tempted to just buy another copy over here just to replay the game. :x

I used Aigis, Yukari, and Junpei. I believe they're all level 74-75ish. If I did I did it again I'd probably switch Mitsuru for Yukari just to make the form that uses lightning a bit less of a bitch. Other than that, though, I couldn't really perceive a problem in my overall plan except AI stupidity and bad luck. Oh well, we'll see. I wonder if I should level up on the 26th or just keep leveling on the 31st.

The last battle is an exercise in juggling your AI tactics. In a lot of cases, you have to completely switch them off (the reflective shield thing) or else they'll hurt themselves badly. Junpei in particular will often be an idiot (surprise surprise).

Holy crap, Huang Long just wiped the floor with me. I better start grinding for null ailment, damn that Celestial Ray. It also doesn't help that Serph can't take damage too well right now. Time to farm some Titanias.
Will I get tired if I train on the last day of the game? Or if I want to level should I go back to my save on the 26th?
Edit: Nevermind, just beat it. Holy hell that fight was close. Her status attacks fucked me pretty good. I ended up with no one but Koro and me alive. I took a chance on casting Megidolaon, because I thought it'd kill it. I was pretty heartbroken when the thing was still alive. But, I survived with 110 hp, and so I did another megidolaon while praying it didn't miss.

I'm pretty sure I went in there mid- to high-sixties, and I don't remember having to set AI to off with Yukari, Mitsuru, and Aigis. I took over healing if it was too dangerous to leave it to Yukari, and Aigis spent most of the time buffing and debuffing. Mitsuru had the +Ice damage item, and she was doing some ridiculous damage, as usual.
Still wish she would stop with the damn Mind Charges, though...
I finally beat P3 just now - can't be-lieeeeve how long it took me. The box says 70 hours, I clocked in at a hundred and thirty-five. Now that's bang for your buck.
I went back and read some spoilers on the previous pages, regarding the ending. I'll admit, I got a little misty... but now I'm wondering what the fuck could they do with FES?
He saved the world, the end. What's Aigis supposed to be fighting in the next one? Dark Hour's gone, Tartarus disintegrated... does Aigis somehow take over all your social links, and inherits the ability to control multiple personas? I dunno... I'll admit, I was fairly peeved when it was evident no one remembered what they had all done. Why the hell did it matter to me? I knew what they'd done - I was there for it. But for some reason it was hugely important that these characters I've come to love be aware of what they went through, more than my own knowledge of it. Strangeness and peculiarity.
Edit:
P.S. I'm boggled that anyone could have trouble with
Nyx. You have TWO MONTHS to clear the fifth floor, and another month to clear the sixth, which opens up Monad, which = level 99 in like three runs. Was it just overzealous of me to get myself and my three girls to 99 before 1/31? I don't think so - they gave you so much time... I spent the last two and a half weeks of January going to school and sleeping early.
For like all of Nyx's arcanums, I pretty much just belted him with Ragnarok from Surt (Fire Amp & Boost) for 1300ish damage to one-shot his life bar, and when his Death arcanum rolled around I popped a Soma and used Armageddon.
Maybe it woulda' been more challenging and therefor fun if I'd kept myself and my crew at like, 83. But the level cap is there - why not shoot for it?

Long story short, from what I know... (on FES, ending spoilers)
The party's trying to cope with Main's death/comatoseness/interpret-however-you-like, and a new robot appears. I don't know if it's evil or what, but I think part of the story involves their trying to find a way to bring Main back.
As to how Aigis gets to control multiple Persona, who knows... maybe it's the artillery gear.
Now that I have time to comment on the game in full (before I was rushing to get to work right after beating it):
Now I've played DDS1&2, and Persona 3. Those both are my only steps into the SMT franchise, and they're both great games. I think I like DDS (I count them as one game) a bit better than P3. Overall I think P3 suffered a bit from being almost too long. I spent 125 hours in it, and that's way more than any RPG. At the end I was really feeling the rush to get finished. The game does get a bit repetitive if you lay it a lot, too. As for the battle systems, I miss DDS's, really. P3's worked for that game, but I prefer the strategy in DDS. Figuring out which shield is most beneficial to put out and when to pass and what weakness to exploit to get another turn, and how to get the enemy to lose a turn just worked so freaking well for DDS. I missed these things in P3. P3 lost a lot of strategy from not having that. Both games though have some of the best characterization I've seen in any games. You just really start to care about the cast. The fusion system in P3 was damned addictive, though, and it means that I really want to get to Nocturne.
I'm probably going to take a bit of a SMT break. I'll take on Nocturne in a couple of months when I get the itch again.
Nocturne was definitely a great game, though with a few flaws. The fusion system was fun as hell, and demon negotiations, while really gimped from the first SMT game (I haven't played any of 2), streamlined things a lot. As for the story, the thing I think to keep in mind is that the characters aren't very important. Some have importance, though for the most part, everyone's really playing second fiddle to the story of the world. It's really subtle, and you have to be in the mood for it, but it's definitely a very unique and interesting one.
All that being said, I really felt that DDS was/were the better game/games. I have a feeling that this mostly results from the fact that DDS came out after Nocturne and may also be because I still have something of a soft spot for a really strong character-driven narrative. But DDS was my introduction to the SMT series and it was so drastically different from any other RPG I had ever played that I was instantly enamored of it. If Nocturne had been my first, I'd probably feel differently, but who knows.
In the end, they're both great games for different reasons. But after finishing Nocturne, I really felt more inclined to give DDS another go around, even though I just finished 2 in the middle of last year. Maybe once I'm done with No More Heroes.
Well, I'm still far away from beating the game, but I'm up to late October, so I'm at least getting there. I finally, finally, FINALLY, finished a girlfriend. Thanks for the good times, Yuko! Time to dump your ass so I can date another four women as fast as possible! Man, this game makes you act like a jerk.
So, that makes four finished Links. I know I'm nowhere near the max S.Links goal, but am at least doing reasonably well for a first try? How many links did you people end up with, assuming you just didn't FAQ it?

Hermit, Hanged, Sun, Star, Justice, Magician, Devil, Chariot, Tower, and Hierophant. I'm not counting the automatically raised ones.

Hierophant, Tower, Hanged, and now Strength. I expect to finish at least Magician, Temperance, and/or Emperor among the school. I'll probably polish off at least one remaining townie on winter break. I'm amazed you got Sun and Hermit; my sundays usually so damn busy. And seriously, of the five girls in the game, Chihiro was the only one you ended up with?

She's all better than Yuko anyway. :P My first runthrough only had Mitsuru, myself.

Hey, I liked Yuko. Okay, there was the "blank paper" thing, but she improves and even references that as a mistake in the end. The only problem was that she only has two free days a week, and this game LOVES screwing you out of Wednesdays and Saturdays. "Okay, I can go out with her this wednesday and,...oh, Akihiko wants me to help recruit Shinjiro AGAIN. Fine, next time's fine and...oh, a full moon. Well, next Saturday I can ATYPHOONHITS?

So guys, if Persona 3 was my first MegaTen game and I really dug it, which one of the more readily available (i.e. not obscenely expensive and hard to come by) SMT games should I try and pick up next? DDS? DDS2? Devil Summoner? I really want to play Nocturne but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.

DDS, but only if you also buy DDS2. So, you'll probably end up paying more than Nocturne anyway. DDS1/2 are awesome games, but expect a bit more of a traditional RPG, but with a very darker overtone than most.
I adore it when you push forward to a level just beyond your ability and a enemy instakills you. This was the first combat on that level, so I had no idea how hard they would be (and aside from the instakill, they were ok).
And of course this was after an hour of play.
So seeing as this was level 27, I expect to finish this game in 2011 or so.

Alice is in all of the Persona games, and is pretty much just an Alice in Wonderland reference.
Okay.
Why is she dead/of the Death Tarot, then? I don't know; I guess I don't see how a recent children's story factors in with a group of mythological beings and gods. Ares really needs to get a better agent. "I'm the god of war and I'm a third as powerful as a LITTLE GIRL! This is bullshit!" And one of the horsemen of the Apocalypse is all "I'm with you, brother." They should have at least included the other three. And, on that note, done all nine layers of the celestial choir, instead of cutting it off at seven.

If you flip to her background info in the compendium (bet you didn't know that all the compendium entries have background descriptions, did ya?), it says that she's the ghost of Alice, presumably the same Alice as the ...in Wonderland book.
She's the protagonist of that book, and, in the end of her story (not necessarally the book), she died, because the only real ending is death.
Chew on that for awhile.
I'm taking a brief break from my Nocturne replay (got to the Amala Temple) because I found a copy of Fear Effect 2. While I don't think that the latter is actually a good game, it's a compelling trainwreck that makes me appreciate the storycrafting in SMT games that much more.

It could be a reference to this (Alice in Wonderland Spoilers... I think... I found it on wikipedia):
Alice eats part of the mushroom, causing her to grow and accidentally knocks over the Jury Box. The Queen of Hearts is about to sentence them to death, but Alice calls them all just a pack of cards, causing them to swirl around her and turn into dead leaves.

I really enjoy the Fear Effect games.
The first is much better(re: darker), but the second is still good, if you can get around the shameless marketing point of the main characters.
And you never know, maybe she's inspired by American McGee's Alice. :P

Well, I'm only just past the first disc, and since I suck at this sort of game, maybe I'm biased. I tried to buy the first one at the same time, but they could only find the cover, not the game itself. I know where I can pick it up, though.
The part where I was scratching my head:
You rescue Rain from some sort of hentai tentacle rape machine (!?) and she laughs it off as a "cheap thrill."
I suppose I don't know a lot about these ladies' backgrounds, but... sheesh.
And you never know, maybe she's inspired by American McGee's Alice. :P
I got the impression that she was older in that one (never played that either).

Fear Effect 1 is amazing. Fear Effect 2 is good, but not nearly as good as the first.
Fortunately, it's a prequel.
It kind of has to be.
As for Alice... I think she's exactly the same age, give or take a year.
She was committed to an insane asylum a year or so after the events of the book.
I love how the game doesn't even PRETEND like it's about to end, even though every character and descriptive text says otherwise. There's a laugh about sushi, you go to bed, and promptly wake up to two more s.links rising and another full moon counter. It reminded me of that first Sci Fi channel episode of Mystery Science Theater. "Your Earth is gone. Everyone you know has been dead for 500 years. All of life is completely different. Your movie for this week is...
Oh, and STREGA? Apparently complete pushovers. And Hanged wasn't much harder.

Yeah, Strega were a big let-down, difficulty wise. I expected a nightmarishly tough battle, like the Karma Society Trio in DDS2 or something.
It doesn't help that...(mild endgame: )
you never actually fight all three at once, either.

She might be a monster from an earlier game too, but I'm not sure about that.
3DS: 1607-3034-6970
Okay.
I really enjoy the Fear Effect games.
The first is much better(re: darker), but the second is still good, if you can get around the shameless marketing point of the main characters.
And you never know, maybe she's inspired by American McGee's Alice. :P
Well, I'm only just past the first disc, and since I suck at this sort of game, maybe I'm biased. I tried to buy the first one at the same time, but they could only find the cover, not the game itself. I know where I can pick it up, though.
The part where I was scratching my head:
I suppose I don't know a lot about these ladies' backgrounds, but... sheesh.
I got the impression that she was older in that one (never played that either).
Fortunately, it's a prequel.
It kind of has to be.
As for Alice... I think she's exactly the same age, give or take a year.
I heard it was 5 years later.
Both Fear Effect games are truly great games, and totally underrated.
Oh, and STREGA? Apparently complete pushovers. And Hanged wasn't much harder.
It doesn't help that...(mild endgame: )
