Fear Effect 1 is amazing. Fear Effect 2 is good, but not nearly as good as the first.

    Fortunately, it's a prequel.

It kind of has to be.

As for Alice... I think she's exactly the same age, give or take a year.
She was committed to an insane asylum a year or so after the events of the book.

I heard it was 5 years later.

    It's longer than 5 years.
    She's 18 in the game.

Yeah, Strega were a big let-down, difficulty wise. I expected a nightmarishly tough battle, like the Karma Society Trio in DDS2 or something.

    It doesn't help that...(mild endgame: )
you never actually fight all three at once, either.
Hell, I'm disappointed that the other two didn't fight me at the same time as the Shadow.

Also disappointing? Itsutsuki's (or however you spell it,) inevitable betrayal. I mean, I guessed he'd be evil anyway, and one of the spoilers here confirmed it, but I hoped for something more deep than cartoonish supervillainy. Come on man, give me more than "Yay! Destroy the world!" and Christ references. Also lame were AIGIS' auto capture cut scene powers and the dog not showing up until missing at least five much more convenient moments for him to do so.

Dammit, does anyone know where I can find this in New York? Like in person?

I waited too long to buy it, stupidly. I just have the review pressing from eToychest. Which is fine, but I'd really like the artbook and soundtrack. Meh.

If anyone has any leads in New York or even the Jersey City area, that'd be awesome. I called around a number of places and no one seems to have it but whatever.

I find it really sad that they are already LP'ing a game that hasn't even been released over here. The wait is killing me, so there better be a P3 waiting for me there, preferably with FES.

What is taking them so long to release the game? It has already been mentioned in the thread that they didn't do any translations. I also find it ridiculous that it would take them this long to convert the game.

You shouldn't have a problem getting to the next floor warp. You can ALWAYS escape from regular battles. I've honestly never found a use for Trafuri. As long as you don't get surprise attacked you can always escape the battle and keep going.

If you've made progress that you don't want to lose, and also wish to make it to the next floor, just don't fight anything. You can always warp back to the last floor and climb back up quickly.

I pretty much never went longer than 30-40 minutes before saving. That and I usually split my Tartarus adventures into two distinct types-grinding/treasure-hunting and going from one boss floor to the next. On the latter type, I'd probably only have five or so battles total before reaching the destination and going back to the main floor. And those were usually just to get treasure chests in deadends.

Yeah, I did the same thing, actually. I'm too paranoid of not saving between a lot of fights so I either did grind runs or boss/warp point runs. You get pretty good at dodging after a while.

After getting wrecked probably over 50 times by now, DDS1 final optional boss is beat. The Redstar strategy works really well. That first section with Cu Chulainn and Girimehkala can be pretty brutal if the Demi-fiend gets some crits. Had so many first turn game overs. Arahabaki's gate of hell wrecked me the worst. When things looked like they were going well bamm all stoned.

It's little funny how the pixie I had with me in Nocturne turned out to be the key to victory in DDS1.

Now it's time to finish up getting the remaining mantras but for now chilling in Muladhara with Embryon's theme is time well spent.

You kids today with your Redstar strategy. Back in my day, that strategy hadn't been thought up yet. I had to come up with my own glitch to beat him and I thought of it all by myself. Tis a shame it never worked for anyone else.

Anyway congratulations, even with that strategy he's still possibly the hardest RPG boss ever created. Will you dare to fight the uber-boss in DDS2?

I was attempting it without that strategy but it seemed extra daunting without Cielo. Well I really should of saved some of those vital noises for Cielo but I kinda blew them all on Argilla and Heat. I didn't want to grind anymore in the Manipura waterways so I just went with the team I've stuck with since the beginning.

In retrospect I could of just given Cielo Life Surge to compensate like I did with Argilla and Heat but 61 vit is pretty low. I'll try it again without Redstar some other day but for now I'll leave it here.

What was that glitch you used? I remember you mentioning it before.

I've to get DDS2 first but yeah optional bosses are love especially if it's a boss rush.

I mention my glitch win as much as possible because I'm just so proud of it. It's like beating Battletoads, you just want the world to know.
My glitch was I managed to kill the Pixie on the turn right after it used Dormina. I wanted to see what would happen to the demifiend's programming and see if Gaea Rage or Summon Demon took priority. It was also a fail-safe for Dormina failing to put anybody to sleep. What I managed to do was have him put Gaea Rage into "stock" and when he summoned Titania and everyone fell asleep, he used Gaea Rage twice in one turn. Sadly my glitch didn't seem to work for anybody else as he used Gaea Rage first and then summoned his next demon.

Hmmm. That's interesting, I'll give that a try on my next go at him. I wish there were some better single target attacks for this fight though. Last Word is sort of wimpy for a mega damage spell.

I'm just getting back into P3 after a loooong period of not playing it, and I wanted to ask something. It seems that the general consensus is to ignore Tarterus until the night before the full moon, then grind your levels up on that night, as you can't get tired, and to use every other evening for social stuff or studying, right?

Also, I've been told many, many times to make my Star Social-Link (which I don't even have yet), but are there any others that are useful to have maxed out? I assume that you need to max them to enable some stupidly powerful fusions, or somesuch.

Thanks in advance! I'm way, way early in the game at the moment anyhow. In fact, I've only just
rescued Fuuka from Tartarus and got her to join the team.

(Spoilered 'cause some people haven't managed to start the game yet.)

I don't personally agree with the strategy of waiting until the night before the full moon to run your Tartarus. That's only good if you're going for a perfect run... and that's kinda dumb your first time around. Space out your Tartarus runs... I try to go on days when I feel "Great."

The strategy mentioned by others works best: split your Tartarus runs into checkpoint runs (avoid fights) and grinding runs (fight almost everything). I sometimes throw a third kind in: money runs (start from the bottom of Tartarus and work your way up through the levels where monsters are scared of you just snagging chests. This does not tire you out at all, and you can do it several times a night if you don't feel like fighting... note, do not split up your team, because they'll keep any money they find on their own).

As for the S.Links, none are critical, really, but Judgement is pretty awesome.

God, I'm an idiot. I just bumped an old topic because I couldn't find this one...

I have a quick question about the press turn battle system as seen in DDS and Nocturne.

I know when someone is weak to an element they gain an extra turn, but what about just strong (not void)?

If they're just strong to an element does the attacker lose a turn or does it just do less damage?

    thanks

Well, I've put down my preorder for the EU release of Persona 3 now. Guess it was too much to hope for that we would get FES as some kind of compensation for the long wait, but I guess that the old Playstation traditions won't be changed that easily.

Oh well, at the 29th this month I'll be sitting quite happily in front of my PS2.

It just does less damage, with no abnormal turn modification. And it's not precisely an "extra" turn with a weakness exploit or critical, it's just a press turn.

Well, you really don't have to go there often if you don't want to. Clearing out the level bosses is about the extent of what you need to do to finish the game. Once or twice a game month is basically all you really need to do.

Have you tried Nocturne yet? The dungeons are way better in that one, but the story isn't as strongly in-depth.
