Unless they have a presuggested name, like Serph, all my protagonists get called Lucien Rain.
    I don't know why.

I've always gone with Jyou Tanaka - when I started playing Nocturne, I was on a huge fan of the pro wrestling tag team OH-Gun (Shinjiro Ohtani and Masato Tanaka) - I knew Tanaka from watching ECW back in the day; and Jyou is the moonspeakified version of my actual name...

I'm not super creative with names when I start an RPG. :|

I named the main from P3 Shichiro Atsune, "Shichiro" because I was born in July, and "Atsune" because it's a surname I have used in fiction before.

I don't know what I'd name the P4 main yet - I'd have to get better look at him first.

The only original name I came up with was for Nocturne: Makenai Iwakura.

The first name being a double reference. One's probably obvious.

If there's no "official" name by the time we get this, I'll be naming him Shin Tensei.

Because I am an uncreative little bitch.

P3 guy will always be Lacrosse in my heart.

P4 guy seems like a...Viktor, maybe. Or Pierce. Or Wendelo. Maybe Reginald.

I went with Lacrosse because it's an awesome anime/video game name where you take an actual word and make it into a name. Lacrosse-kun really grew on me.

I should probably name P4 some Japanese name...I guess he'd make a decent Shinichiro. I need to come up with a good anime name for him, though.

I named my P3 character Jaden Ashanti, as I've done for the last 10+ years when I'm feeling to uncreative to come up with a good name.

Uncreative would be me using my first name in both Suikoden I and II.

Then the Flame Champion turned out being my Demi-Fiend reincarnated...

I might have to name P4 guy Snooker...

    ...maybe Kanoe...

I'm not sure how I'd go about approaching that, though.

I could always go with Shougi.

    Frisby.

I name video game characters by shouting out random phrases that come to mind until I find something that sounds interesting, a process that led to my P3 main being called "Guy Kittens".

    I have no regrets.

I have to say that I'll be tempted to take a page from Yahtzee and name the P4 main "Fagballs." The fact that Atlus preserves the Japanese use of both first and last names prevents "I Say" from making people sound like Foghorn Leghorn unfortunately.

That said, having a Chinese surname and using my real name in P3 worked pretty well. While I'm familiar with Japanese female names, I'm less acquainted with male names or family names.

Funny you should say that, this guy on neogaf was saying he went to preorder FES, and Gamestop has it recorded as "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES" in its system, and the manager told him "this series must be getting big, the guy who made this is allowed to put his name in front".

I named my guy Randall Steelrot, a slight variation from the name of a character I used in a Nanowrimo a few years ago.

I actually found myself imagining that the Western name meant he was born, or a least raised, in America, and it was a source of constant amusing to imagine his voice as someone with no understanding of Japanese culture whatsoever. He'd be outraged they had to go to school on Saturdays, look disgusted or confused whenever they fight over what sushi they want, etc.

Damnit, the level grinding sure have slowed down for me. I really hope that I'll get some double-XP Tartarus level soon or I'll go nuts. I'm level 60 and currently on the
fifth Kalpa. Do things start to heat up XP-wise soon or should I simply run around and simply hope for a double XP level?

'Kalpa'? :P And once you reach the peak of Tartarus, you'll have a means of getting more XP than you could ever want.

I'm not sure about your exact location/month, but it sounds like you're pretty well-off experience wise.

Did I call the areas in Tartarus "Kalpa"? Fuck me, that's what happens when you play two SMT games at the same time.

I'm currently level 60 at the 10th of November. I'm busy trying to grind a few level in order to start fusing Thanatos and a few other Personas. I think I'm somewhere in the vicinity of floor 170-180 right now, memory is a bit fuzzy.

Oh, and fuck the people responsible for the 5th Tartarus area. I get a fucking headache from that place. Couldn't they have gone with a less eye raping dungeon look?
