Actually this happened to me once at a Hollywood video. Kinda sucked that 1/6 of the way through CoD2 the game would freeze thanks to a ginormous scratch running down the back. Then again it was a Hollywood Video.
well sometimes a rental copy of a game will get fucked up pretty good because people do not care about shit they do not own
working in blockbuster i can tell you that people are fucking stupid about rentals
they bring a dvd/game back and say 'yeah it freezes, I want a refund' and you look at the back and it'll be plastered in chocolatey fingerprints from a two year old or something

Well what I was getting at was that most rental places I know have the industrial scratch doctor thing there so they can repair it
but you know whatever
I got screwed on the swap out thing when I got a Wii, but I just took it back to the store and told them that it wasnt working instead of "I just don't want it " so they could send it back for repairs.

Friends of mine have come to me with scratched discs in the past and asked me what to do with them. My answer was always to go into a local GameStop or other used games retailer and ask nicely if they could polish the scratch out for them. From what I understand all used games stores, by necessity, have disc doctor machines.
Oh and I apologize for the fraud suggestion with controllers earlier. The only time I've ever done it was when Best Buy didn't honor my friend's "extended warranty" on his XBox+controller when the B button randomly stopped working and I actually bought him a replacement controller which he used the receipt to trick the company into actually honoring what they are supposed to do anyway.
I guess that experience jaded me slightly. It's not like we returned the broken one while trying to claim it actually worked or something which was suggested a few pages back.
I assume this will continue until Smash Brothers comes out.
Anyway, I'm loving the multiplayer customability and interface of Halo 3, actually. Seems like Bungie was able to do more of what THEY wanted to do with this iteration.

You mean the map customization? Yeah it's no Garry's Mod, but people have turned out some good stuff.

There's a bit of nostalgia involved, as well. There are a number of features in the Halo 3 version of Bungienet, and in Halo 3 forge, that remind me a lot of the Myth games I used to play over the old bungie net. Things as simple as the customizable symbols and colors to the ridiculous custom maps and play modes, etc.
I need to think of some way to make a "Slugfest" mode. Lots of slow moving zombies and a dude with tons of explosives.

That could easily be done in forge. Create a map with tons of explosives. Make an infection gametype where the zombie speed is set to 50% or whatever it goes down to and then gravity up to 200% so they can't jump.
should I get rock band? I mean I played it in Best Buy with a couple of my friends and it was the shit. If I'm drunk, I can only imagine it is 10x awesomer
