For some reason I imagine Nintendo testing all their games to make sure they work, and keeping all of their good ones back in reserves so that whenever there's a hitch and what they were planning for this week breaks they can just toss something off.
"Sir, Dargon's Lair and Cybernoid both crash on startup, we can't release them."
"Crap, those were our two big names this week. Oh well, put Super Mario RPG up then."

I've got the feeling that SMRPG would be the harder one to emulate, what with the cartridge containing its own CPU that was twice as fast as the one instead the SNES.

We had better get something today. I just bought a 2000 point card and have only bought SMB:3 so far.
Since launch I have bought R-Type, Wario's Woods, and Donkey Kong. Along with SMB:3 which was previously mentioned.
Any ideas of what else I should get?
The only good reason not to get StarFox64, Sin & Punishment, Gunstar Heroes, Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, and Super Metroid is that you already have StarFox64, Sin & Punishment, Gunstar Heroes, Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, and Super Metroid.
Given our lack of info regarding what's coming this week, I'm surprised someone hasn't taken the opportunity to pull a "ZOMG Squaresoft supports the VC Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3, and Super Mario RPG on Monday CONFIRMED" joke.
Although, maybe someone considered it and then realized that he values his life and would rather not see it snuffed out by the combined fury of the entire internet.

Didn't Faustnum get banned for something similar to that?

Hah, oh god, Cybernoid... :...:
The best part is that I misspelled Dragon's Lair (the awful NES version) and it still works as a joke.

Anybody else go "What the hell is Dargon's Lair?"
Actually, no. And I'm a stickler for grammar and spelling. I think the dregs of the Innerwebz is finally taking its toll on my brain.
The worst part of this waiting is that I've got 800 points right now, and I know that if any of the games I'm looking forward to come out, they'll probably start at 900 points or something.
Wonder when they'll release Smash64, then. I can't imagine it'll do nearly as well after the release of Brawl as it would have prior to the release.
I might pick it up just for the novelty of being able to play all 3 Smash games on my Wii, but once Brawl is released it definitely won't be the must-purchase it would have been a few weeks ago.
Maybe Nintendo will do something cool like release a compilation of 64 and Melee with online play.
"Sir, last year we made eighteen billion billion from Virtual Console sales!"
"Hmm, that's far too much money. Cancel Super Smash Bros, Super Mario RPG, Earthbound and the N64 version of Worms Armageddon, and roll out Columns III."

VOICE-OVER: It's September 24th, I'm Liz Parker and five days ago I died. But then the really amazing thing happened. I came to life.
This would be the first week ever that we got nothing if that happened.
...Dammit Nintendo! The suspense is killing me!
The worst part of this is now I'm going to get my hopes up for Chrono Trigger or something and it's going to be the first week with no games.
Nintendo, please take my monies. I beg you.
The gradual decrease of game releases was all part of your plan, wasn't it, Nintendo

I really enjoy having Comix Zone, Kid Icarus, Gunstar Heroes, and Paper Mario easily accessible at all times.

I want to give you my monies but you just won't take them.
Fucking hell!! Oh well, saved me more money. I don't think I've bought a VC game since before Christmas. This year has had some pretty bad VC games.

Fuck it, I'm spending my 800 remaining points on Sonic 2 and getting off on the nostalgia trip.
It's just... not as awesome as we'd hoped, that's all.
