What and whose portrayal of Hercules for you was the best?
I'm just really curious on who people consider the best or the very least their favorite "Hercules". People don't speak about this much (to my knowledge) compared to the Supermans, the Batmans, etc. And just as I expected when researching, theres an upcoming Hercules film slated for 2010. Unfortunately you cannot see anything unless you have an IMDbPro account. A few names to refresh any potential memories loss. The bold in italics is where I stand.
Steve Reeves
Brian Thompson
Nigel Green
Lou Ferrigno
Paul Telfer
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Kevin Sorbo
Ryan Gosling
OR THE OPTION -- No one has yet to play a decent Hercules
Well, growing up in a small town with only basic television, the Kevin Sorbo Hercules was my hero. I have like a dozen of his action figures in a box somewhere. I liked him, he had that good-guy calm thing going about him...I liked that in that old Greek superhero.
I remember watching the Kevin Sorbo series when I was a kid and enjoying it, but the Disney one wasn't bad either I guess. Although its been ages since Ive seen either of those.
Ahnald is a God amongst men. Every movie he has been in should be considered a classic, and his riveting portrayal of a powerful, naive Hercules humbled by the perversity of modern day, cynical New York is tremendous. Not to mention his muscles are the closest thing to a proper actor looking like the mythical Hercules.
Arnie definately - that scene where he fights the bear in an old school boxing match was glorious. My favourite Hercules film however was Hercules Against Karate and then mainly because the two heroes had a huge bar fight with an American football team in a pub at the base of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, I believe over the ownership of a gigantic sub sandwich.
I'm surprised he looks that good, considering hes almost 50. He was about 35 back in 1994. He could do a Hercules the legendary journeys movie film if he really wanted to, but considering the fact that he had a 'bone to pick' with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and his wife who stole his thunder [Xena] maybe not.
I recommend buying the H:TLJ season one. Not only does it have the four action packed movies, but the entire first season at a very reasonable price ($20). Only downside (theres always one) is its the censored version, so a lot of the Xena scenes are edited (the love scene, the violence, the blood, etc). Ironically enough, they kept all the boobies when the Amazons were undressing in the first telemovie, 'Hercules and the Amazon Women'.

So that one by default, I suppose.
Not a very high rating, but he was Hercules in one of my favorite years, 1983.
He put the "glad" in "gladiator."
Or, in reality, The Sorbonator.
I was coming in here to say this. Not the "best" by any stretch of the imagination, but easily the funniest (though I'm not sure it meant to be).
Seriously, y'all are making the wrong choice

Wait until Hercules 2: The 13 trials straight to video release.
Awesomeness.
Fixed, at least according to legend. :P
