Help with CoD4 installation

Alright, here's the problem.
When ever I try to install the game it gets up to a certain file, iw_08.iwd, and then brings up the message "Error: 1304. Error writing to file G:/CoD4MW/main/iw_08iwd. Verify that you have access to this directory."
I can hit either Retry or Cancel, Retry just brings up the same message and Cancel exits the installer and brings up the message, "Error: 1603. Fatal error during the install process."
Oddly UT3 brought up the exact same error messages when I tried to install it.
I'm baffled, anyone know what to do?

    There is a problem with the DVD drive you're using. Get a new one. Alternatively, both discs have a problem, but I would venture a guess that that's not really it.

    Your problem sounds suspiciously like an error you would receive while emulating DVD drives.
