So, for the last year or so, the radio in my car (1995 Suzuki Sidekick) has been on the fritz. When I have it on, seemingly at random, the speakers will stop working....only to start working some time later. Restarting the car has no effect, turning knobs/pushing buttons has no effect and hitting the radio itself has no effect.
I largely use one of those cassette tapes that allow you to listen to your MP3 player in car, though that doesn't seem to matter too much when the speakers cut out. It happens just as frequently if I had the radio playing normally.
Recently, the speakers have come on a lot less regularly and its becoming almost maddening - especially on long trips. I got some mini-speakers on my dashboard (don't need batteries or a connection or anything) that work...well, I suppose...but if any song gets to loud (aka a typical talking voice), than they start sputtering and freaking out.
Thats why I want to figure out whats wrong with my radio and get that working again. When the speakers are on, they sound fine, leading me to believe its just a connection issue somewhere...a loose wire jiggling or something. But I have no idea what to do about that or how to find said wire (I can't figure out how to remove my car radio from its slot to see clearly behind it). I can see up into the wiring of the dashboard from the floor of the car, but its difficult to figure out whats plugging into what.
Any ideas or assistance in getting this fixed would be most awesome. If pictures would be helpful, I can go take them...
