Yes, this. I may be biased because I just recently finished reading Showcase Presents The Atom Vol. 1.

Kidding, everyone knows that the GLs are the best in DC.

When written well, Guy Gardener is the best... after Kilowag...

The problem is, he's usually written horribly... like, eye stabbingly horribly.

I've thoroughly enjoyed how Guy has been written in GLC.

Just get DC Universe #0. It's going to be 50 cents and is supposed to give a "state of the DCU" before Final Crisis.

So I watched New Frontier on Netflix and it was an okay fairly good time.
On ward to Superman: Doomsday since that is the only other streaming DC animated thing they have. Though I know how it ends...cause I actaully was one of those suckers who bought that entire line of comics. I wonder how old I was, I recall my grandmother driving me to the comic store each week when those came out.

    Meh... I couldn't finish it.

I'll be honest with you... nothing pisses me off more then the movies/show/comic going back and forth between Lois knowing he's Clark and her not knowing he's Clark. It annoys me to no end.

Additionally, the thing I enjoyed most about the Death of Superman comic was the presence of other superheroes... something the movie completely lacked.

I loved evil Superman and Lex, even if clones are a bit of a cliche and Lex was hardly as collected as he usually is.

so, I'm catching up on GA/Black Canary and I'm wondering. How many people know Superman's real name? GA yells out Clark to get him to pick up Conor and it just seems like everyone is referring to him as Clark, much like Batman. So does every super hero in the League or Society know everyones identity?

Superman and Batman used to keep their identities pretty hush hush, but finally revealed them to the rest of the League in JLA. I think it was the arc Hitch illustrated. But outside of that small circle they pretty much kept them secret.

Then all of a sudden after Identity Crisis it seems like everyone's on a first name basis with each other, bandying secret identities back and forth willy nilly, even when they shouldn't; like during fights with supervillains. I still don't know why Jean Loring knew who Robin was, how Dr. Light got Blue Beetle's real name, or for that matter how Blue Beetle knew Batman's secret identity.

    see i dunno about that.

BB knew batman was just another human like him that used a lot of gadgets. So basically all he had to do was find a rich dude that had the same kind of resources he had, and probably located in Gotham seeing as that is where batman is usually located. and bam, you find bruce.

superman though, i dunno, if you weren't in regular contact with clark kent in the first place, i'm not sure it would be so easy.

"I know who you are Batman. Or should I say-- Oliver Queen?!"

While you have a point about Batman, following that rationale everyone should know who Batman is. Sure Bane and Tim Drake both figured it out that way, but you'd think more people would connect the dots. What was weird, to me, about their meeting in Countdown to Infinite Crisis was how familiar Beetle was with Bats. He called Alfred by name, mentioned renovations he'd like to make to the cave, and ruminated over Batman's trophy collection, making it seem like he'd know who Batman was for a long time.

I'd think Superman would be pretty easy to figure out too. You'd think people would start to wonder why Superman seems to save that Clark Kent guy's wife all the time.

I'm not big into comic books at all really, however my brother lent me a few graphic novels for ultimate spider-man (the first 7 to be precise), and i really enjoyed how they spun up (lololol) peter parker's managing of superpowers and highschool. I especially loved the element of highschool in the books. can anyone recommend me a comic book that is like this? i'm open to anything really, i have no preference (As these literally are the first comic books i've ever read). just some story about high school and stuff like that. i'm continuing reading USM, i was just wondering if there was anything else out there similar. anime/superhero whatever. thanks.

Blue Beetle doesn't have very much high school drama. You could do worse if you're looking for a teen hero book though.

Definitely check out Invincible and Grounded though. You can read both for free here.

I've been hearing this over and over, but somehow I just can't bring myself to buy it. My local comicstore has had the first HC on display for quite a while, but I just keep flipping through the pages and it's supposed awesomeness doesn't quite click with me.

Someone explain to me what makes Spider-man loves MJ that great. Is it the art (because I don't really "see" it), humor, drama, all of the above or something completely different?

It's a sweet, witty, fun high-school drama with the added bonus of Spidey in the background. McKeever has a great take on high-school dialogue, and makes Mary Jane so likable you're rooting for her after about three pages. I personally love the art, but it may of course not be to your taste. The colouring's great as well.

I got into it around the time that 616 Spidey was going through Sins Past and Ultimate Spidey was in the middle of that dull patch before the clone saga, so it was an absolute breath of fresh air for me.

See, that might not be entirely true for me.
There are many comics that didn't grab me at first glance, but I learned to love once I actually read them completely.

Art is just a fraction of what makes a great comic, so the art not instantly appealing to me, might not be the definitive factor in this case. I couldn't get a good feel for the story just glancing at the pictures, since I try to refrain from using my comic shop as a personal library.

That said, I really like funny high school dialog in my TV shows and comics, so I might have to force myself to buy this. It's just that usually too many other comics seem to get priority over S-M Loves MJ.
