A case study in the excellence of Global Defence Force.

    We went from this:
I know shooters aren't my thing per se, but to me it looks just like another shooter. Sell me on why it's so special.

    To this:
    BOOM! HAHAHA! BOOOOM! RATATATATA! SPLAT!

    GDF arrived :D

Quite an amusing diversion indeed. I got up to jumping spiders and then went back to title screen forgetting that old games don't auto-save...

A perfect example of why all of you douches who HAVEN'T bought GDF yet, should.

So over christmas I ordered a mispriced AV power supply 'thing' off Dell. RRP about £200, they were selling it for £18 delivered.

    They sadly cancelled my order.

However I just noticed now that they have chaged me for it. As in, charged me, cancelled the order, and not refunded me.

Am I right in thinking that sale of goods act means they either have to provide me the item I ordered and have been charged for, or an acceptable alternative (with me defining what is acceptable)?

You're looking at that with consumer-tinted goggles - I'm not even sure that the Sale of Goods Act applies. I'm pretty sure they can just give a refund. Contact the Consumerist.

LewieP - According to a quick check on Trading Standards website
    http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/cgi-bin/calitem.cgi?file=ADV0051-1111.txt

    "Performance of the contract

Unless otherwise agreed, the trader should supply the goods or perform the service within 30 days from the day after the day the consumer placed his/her order. An exception to this is when goods or services are not available; the trader is required to inform you and reimburse any payment. The trader may, subject to fulfilling the necessary requirements on giving information, supply substitute goods and services. "

I hope you told them that you had been bounced to 15 different department and that if they were doing their job properly, you'd only need to be transferred once. You might get free stuff if you complain enough, but I'm sure you know that already because you're the white equivalent of Carl Weathers in Arrested Development.

Hmm. I'm finally looking to buy new super mario brothers, and legend of zelda for my ds. I need something to play when i go on holiday next month. However, i'm struggling to find them for under £20 which has me confused ... I mean, they're ancient! I was expecting to get them both for no more than £30.

Anyone know of a cheap place to buy them?

Also I want a third, but have no idea what to get. Not sure what games I really enjoy these days. I hated FF3, even Phoenix Wright bored me. I was looking at Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, but the screenshots really did nothing for me. Then I was looking at the new FF RTS coming out this week, which i actually like the look of.

Yeah, big name first party Nintendo games don't really drop in price. I'll have a look now and see what I can come up with.

And yeah, Centipeed, I did. I kept telling them politely how I was very angry (but not at them) and I kept just getting bounced between departments.

For example, I explained the whole scenario to one person in "orders", they said I had to speak to "sales" they switched me to sales, sales said I had to speak to customer service, who said I had to speak to orders. I got put through to orders, and they asked me what company I ordered behalf on. I had been transferred to their business line by accident. Back to the beginning again. Then I repeated the whole thing, and ended up somehow talking to their Irish line.

All the time hearing the line -

"Why can't they see it's not power, just greed, to just want more and more?"
    When on hold.

I gave up in the end when they said I would have to take it up with their legal department, since I knew that their response would just be "well take us to court then" and I am really not in the financial position to do that.

I just took a break to regroup my thoughs though, I am by no means leaving this here.

In the meantime. Epic bargain -
Command and Conquer - The First Decade, PC - £8.99 delivered

Good luck finding zelda for that price, but this site do pre-owned Mario bros for £18:

Jesus fuck that is a good price for the C&C First Decade. I'm tempted to order it but

A: Have no money as I accidentally booked the most expensive restaurant in Southampton for Valentines Day, and my GF won't let me change to somewhere more in my budget (say, Subway, or the kebab shop on Portswood Road)

B: I already own big box copies of all of those.

    Still, very tempting.

What the hell is going on with CEX?

I've been trying to get a Cash Trade-In for over a week now and none of my four local stores 'have any cash.' There's no explanation, either - they just aparrently don't.

Is this company going under or something? If so, :(, GAME trade in prices suck ass. CEX gives more cash than they do trade

It's seriously starting to piss me off - Birmingham, Coventry, Merry Hill and Solihull all have no cash whatsoever aparrently and so I'm stuck with all this crap in my hallway I'm waiting to sell.

I'd ebay or private sell it all but I just can't be arsed. CEX will give around £150 cash and that's good enough for me if they had any damn cash.
