Welcome to the first Gun thread of 2008!
So, I'm getting some money soon and I am buying a new pistol - something with some stopping power and is good for both conceal carry and looks good on the hip for open-carry. Nothing smaller than a .40 caliber.
I currently own an uber-cheap Hi-Point .45ACP. It's cheap (They're $180 new, I paid $75 for it slightly used) but very durable and awsome. Also comes with an equipment rail that costs a shitton to add on something else.
On the table for consideration are the following:
The ever-awesome Glock 23 .40
The Walther P99AS .40
Taurus 100B-11
H&K .45
AS you can see I enjoy Austrian guns. I also prefer polymer frames for their lighter weight, ease of use and durability.
Now post your preferences and owned firearms, queermos.
Also: RIFLES ARE WELCOME TOO, you douchefucks. And if you're gonna just poopoo all over the thread by being an anti-gun retard, then... well fuck you!
I live in ALASKA. I literally have
dangerous, wild animals right outside my door. If you don't like guns that's fine, just sit down and shut the hell up.
Enjoy!

Also; man do I loves shooting. Shooting anything with a lever-action from the hip is the best, especially if it has a high ammo capacity, like my step-brothers .22 mag.
My old neighbor had a lever action .45 rifle. Was pretty awsome

and my only real experience with guns is staring down the business end of a shotgun
but i've always been interested in hitting up a shooting range, just to see what all the hubbub is about
all
'that guy just looked at you wrong and you shot him that was fucking awesome why dont you shoot that other guy over there and then you will be the best and we will have sex/gender'
If it's him or me, or if he's trying to rob me, he's getting a hole put in him, no questions.
I wouldn't even lose sleep over it.
However! The way hip-hop culture glorifies and glamorizes (is that a word?) gun violence is... extremely unfortunate.
This is my gun, and probably the only gun I would shoot, besides my three Airsoft guns
and youre all 'hey i only got like $2 in my pocket but id rather just fucking shoot you in the face than lose my bus fare'
Were you born retarded, or was there some hideous accident that killed your mother and prevented her from mercifully ending your existence after whatever you endured that made you such an insufferable faggot.

You can't posess a handgun until you're 21 unless you're supervised with an adult, and you can't own it.

Seriously.
Visible iron sights, comes in .40, 9mm, or .45. Light and very workable action and I just prefer it right now over the Glock, haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, though. That could change soon!
Springfield XD
For a more conventional, sneakier approach to Concealed Carry, I recommend this, as it will shoot .38 Special and .357 rounds. Weight in at 12 ounces unloaded and very manageable to shoot the .38, loading with .357 is unpleasant after about 5 shots. S&W offers a plethora of models based off this.

Do you like to shoot birds out of the sky, boy? Do you just like shootin' shit, like empty beer and soda cans, and skeet? Well then, you can't go wrong with the Remington 870 Express. Standard shotgun, nothing fancy, nothing you're going to miss here. I do most of my dove hunting with a Remington 870 Super Mag, and shooting at small tasty treats all day with 3 1/2 shells does leave the shoulder a little tender. Also popular among folks for turkey, deer, self defense, and military and police use.

Perhaps you prefer a classier approach to your bird hunting capabilites, or your trap shooting. Sometime in the near future, I will be purchasing a Weatherby Orion over and under shotgun. It's classy, it's expensive, it looks sexy, and goddamn if I don't pop a boner while holding one.

Some people with about $600 more than I do, prefer the Browning Citori's. I have nothing against them, they're a great firearm and they're made in Japan, or were the last I checked. Heavier than the Weatherby, I dislike it, but it would make a good purchase if you're into it. Personally, I'm sticking with the Weatherby.

Now, the AR-15 is a popular firearm for target shooting, home defense, and it spawned the M-16 by Eugene Stoner, and first produced by Armalite, hence the AR term. There are many spinoffs, produced by Colt, Smith and Wesson, Bushmaster, etc. Currently, I'm looking at the Bushmaster Predator variant, because it looks cool, feels good, and I would love to drop thousands of rounds through it at the range.

You might be a fan of the old classics, ranging from WW1 with the 1903 Springfield, to seeing some use in WW2, and giving way to the M1 Garand, both fine firearms that you can procure at gun shows, and through the Civilian Marksmanship Program. I've shot both and in my opinion, they make excellent rifles no matter how old. I would do horrible, depraved, shameful things to own one.
03 Springfield and M1 Garand
I left out the Colt 1911, a fine gun that has always been popular, and if handguns had stopped at the 1911, I'd be happy with that too. I believe that rifles could've stopped at the 1898 Mauser, as well.
Take the scope off and reset it.
Boresight the son of a bitch and you're off to a fine rifle.
Man, I wanna get me one of these.
ohohoho man tommy guns are fantastic
I actually got a boresighter for Christmas. It's neat...
Also, yeah. That'd be the way to go, methinks.
thread title should be
"put your mitts in the air"
as opposed to putting up one's dukes
you're sending a mixed message
It isn't hard, don't worry about that.
Just putting some screw in place and rings and you're on your way.
Also, I seriously want a Marlin lever action .45-70. It just feels so right.
whatcha gonna do, when hulkamania runs wild on you

ahh, but we can use our guns to steal the drugs.
edit: i want a muzzle-loader soooo badly. like a .75 or .50 callibre, like the olden days.
What is the range on this kind of thing? And whats the accuracy. I work in a really open plan office Id love to snipe coworkers from like 100ft away above all the cubicles and past all the office doors.
it's not that great, really, it's fine for most indoor stuff like in my house and in the dorm, but it won't be hitting anything at 100ft without modding and sheer luck
if I had to guess, I'd say 25-40ft is the effective range, one of the hallways that sees a lot of action here is probably about 30ft (including the open areas on either side) and it has no problem covering that distance
the snap off pistol section doesn't really do anything for accuracy and only serves to make it front-heavy, and the scope doesn't even have any magnification
but the cartridge loading is fucking rad and convenient and there is something innately satisfying about pulling the bolt back and slamming it forward between shots that completely emasculates those with other, lesser nerf guns
just don't buy it expecting to pull off the foam equivalent of enemy at the gates stuff
Follow me on Twitter??
basically i was asking is it essentially a sniper rifle or a machine gun?
