Anyone know where I can download a good chess game geared primarily towards playing against the computer? My step-dad wants one, and I'd like to oblige.

    Chess.com actually has a browser-based, against the computer chess game on their site.

    There are plenty of free chess games out there you just need to do a quick google.

    With that said Chess Titans, a chess game that comes packed in with Vista, is the only chess game I can play anymore. It's just that good.

    My Imac came with a pack called Bog Bang Board Games that had a really awesome chess game. Look it up if you can find it for the PC. It's totally worth it, its slick and stylish as hell.

    It's an entirely online Java app, but addicting.

    Battle Chess is worth a try. Its old, but great fun.

    Pretty sure it was released in shareware form at the very least back in the 90s.
