You want the inventory mod. Gosh I can't recall what it's named, but it allows you to use tile-based inventory like Morrowind, with tool-tip style item stats, collapsible item categories, and even switch freely between that and the line-by-line style with a button in the window frame. It's also customizeable in that you can choose various item tile borders, sizes, etc, and it's compatible with BTmod/DARNified UI as I recall.
That one sounds nice as well, though most important to me is that last question I asked.

I'm sorry if there was any confusion, including any of my own.

I'd like to help address your concern: So long as Qarl's textures don't modify the LOD meshes (it would have an LOD folder in it if it does), it should be fine.

In this case the conflict would be a file conflict (where two mods try to overwrite the same texture/model/sound) and not a "game conflict" (where two mods try to edit the same horse or move the same table in some guy's house). In such cases, the Oblivion Mod Manager is able to detect when multiple mods would modify the same files. Heck, OMM is useful period. It helps package mods to make adding and removing them as easy as pushing a button, helps manage which installed mods are turned on/off, and automatically runs the Oblivion script extender if found.

I've also not seen The Unofficial Oblivion Patch mentioned yet, which fixes over 1,100 bugs, grounds floating trees, fixes officially messed-up meshes/textures, and helps to remove the cause of the save game bloating bug (Bethesda patched the bug in the engine that let it ruin games, but didn't fix the actual source of the bloating, how awesome is that?). Be sure to read the documentation. It's not complicated to use/install, but there are things you need to be aware of when using it.

Dude, I wasn't getting on your case. I simply said the mod you mentioned sounded nice and then as an addendum reiterated my previous question. So what you are saying is I can install both mods and try them out and if there is a problem the mod manager would let me know before I even ran the game?

No one's case has been got, I think (edited my previous post to be more clear). I'm calmly having some tea, thinking about all the fun and useful mods & utilities I've used, trying to remember their names with marginal success, and thinking I need to play more Brain Age.

The mod manager would actually let you know of any conflicts before you even install the mod. The trick with the mod manager is to download the .omod version of the mod if it's available, and if it's not, tell OMM to make one out of the mod in question.

Once this is done, it's wrapped up in a neat, 1-file pacakage that you can install/remove with a double click, and it shows up in OMM's list with a colored dot next to it. The color of the dot gives a general indication of what conflicts there are, if any, and how bad they are. If you right click a mod, you can choose "detect conflicts" to get a detailed list of exactly what conflicts with what other mod.

Oh isn't there also a mod that allows AA and HDR at the same time? Also was it ever explained by the devs why you couldn't by default?

That is a hardware specific thing. Only the ATI latest (x1900+up) cards can do it because of the way HDR was implemented in the engine.

I have an 8800GTS, shouln't Nvidia cards be able to do it? Also if I had to decide what would you recomend, HDR or AA?

A bit of googling shows the 8800 series can do it as well. This must be newish. I had a 7950gt back when I played Oblivion.

I think you have to use ntune or another program to force it on. From what I understood back when I had my other card, it wasn't available to NVIDIA users because the AA and HDR were processed using the same component on the card, while the ATI card used different components. I guess that has changed. I don't really feel like installing Oblivion just to verify it.

Qarl's texture pack and the LOD mods don't conflict, so no worries. Also, take a look at Exnem's body mod if you want to play a female character that doesn't look like a foot.

Yeah, the AA+HDR thing has to be done in the drivers, or sometimes in the registry. Depends on your hardware. A little research will make it clearer, maybe. It's the same way in the new Eve Online client.

EDIT: Is there a mod that makes people not look like lepers? Everyone is so damn ugly I just can't handle another hundred hours of looking at them in their ugliness.

The fuck? I have an OCed 8800GT, an E6400 processor, and 2 gigs of DDR2 ram and I have a hard time getting the damn game to run with all the trimmings and still get it to stay at 60 frames.

Man, I feel it, any potential gain in frames from upgrading to a new card went out the window when I changed to a widescreen resolution.

The only game that runs worse than Oblivion is SL, which while is optimized, it isn't the dev's fault that assholes want to make intricate bracelets made out of 10,000 polygons.

The game engine doesn't use culling, which makes for a huge performance hit. Everything is rendered, whether you can see it or not, with the exception of the fog of war when the view distance is cut down.

I'd suggest getting MMM, and the awesome zombie apocalypse mod. The ZAM is still in beta-testing, but god is it awesome. Basically, when you start a new game/load a save, it'll spawn a couple zombies into the world. As the zombies infect other targets (It adds a transmittable disease into the game, that is transferred by attack.) that succumb to it, more zombies join the ranks. Eventually, the zombies will get hungry enough to launch raids on the main cities. Absolute chaos ensues, if the city falls, and the zombies lay siege to more. It usually ends up with an apocalypse situation, with you leading a few survivors (It comes with commands that let you lead people who survive.) to safety, and trying to stop the hordes, as they look for you.

If I recall, it also adds in a zombie aging system, where newly dead are very strong, and older dead are easier to cut down. Also, well fed zombies (IE the ones that get to easy feeding spots first.) are a real bitch to take down, too.

Right now i've got a couple people, using the army mod/mercenary mod (Two other mods to look up, i'll post links for all of them later, if I can find the links again.) in that Frostspire DLC tower. Some small groups of zombies from the overrun imperial city have wandered in a couple times now, necessitating the need to put them down, along with a couple guards. Not that it's that big of a deal. I've got an army stationed there, complete with chokepoints, and snipers with bows, since the army mod lets you equip your companions.

Also, it includes the ability to get infected and succumb to the virus if you aren't careful, thus allowing you to become a zombie overlord and scourge Tamriel of all life. I haven't tried that yet though.

    No Psychic Guards v1.2

When you murder someone out of sight and out of sound range, the guards will not show up out of nowhere, unless they are nearby and hear the yelling. Voice distance for reporting crimes has been greatly reduced. But a guard walking within the reduced alarm range still might might hear the screams for help. There will be no bounty placed on your head unless the guards hear the original NPC crime victim yelling at the time the crime is commited. And you will also be arrested if the guards see you chasing or being chased by an attack victim.

    ALSO!
    http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4387

This mod adds Traveling Traders, Traveling Merchants, with pets / guards covering areas of Cyrodiil. The traveling merchants walk around the wilderness close to towns , inside towns and inns , farms, roads, back roads, shrines,or priory's. They will sell you items - weapons, armor, food, staffs, alchemy ingredients & equip, clothing, lockpicks ( rogues & archers ), spells ( Wizard ) & Potions and if all in stock (%) . Some can repair, recharge, sell spells and Rogues will buy stolen goods. They are a Neutral Faction, and do report crimes committed against them. Guards will fine you now, All Merchant Guards and Pets - Guars have been imported from across the border, will attack back!!

That thing in the second post? It's fucking glorious. I've had it working for 4 or 5 hours now and it's totally awesome. In a dungeon I saw some different factions fighting, and one completely steamrolled the other. Then, because they are dumb and can't work levers that open a portcullis, I slowly whittled down the victors' forces. It was crappy gear and loot but it was totally more fun than most Oblivion I've played so far. And I'm only level 2.

No, I'm pretty sure the Nine blocked the Daedric realm from the normal realm and portals to the daedric realms can never be opened again.

However, Daedric princes are allowed to open a portal, if they don't force anyone to go in, or send out their minions.

I'd usually make a warrior character and quit after awhile because the combat was a bit dull and after awhile I started to see people in full glass. I used a few mods to change that, but I still got kinda bored because there was just nothing to do outside. - how does FCOM help someone in my position?
