Dumb question, but I'd like to more or less get all of the DLC for the PC version. I read a while back that Knights of the Nine included all of the previous DLC before it. Is there a similar package that has Shivering Isles + the Knights of the Nine content? Or is the only way to get that all together the GOTY edition?
The GotY version doesn't have the DLC content other than KotN's quest. Which really is kind of weak since the KotN retail box has all the DLC except the Fighter's Stronghold.
Ok then... well.... is there any other DLC besides Shivering Isles that is worth picking up? I tended to play rogue/thief/archer types, and I loved the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild quests, just for reference.

So I guess I wasn't going to get that summary I asked for of the four major mods that FCOM makes work together. Fine, I'm reading through the notes for each individual mod and am trying to write my own summary of each. This, in turn, let's us know what the hell FCOM does aside from "ZOMG MAKE THE GAME AWESUM". These summaries will be lacking though, because some may only list their absolutely new features (meaning other shit they do or did, who knows).
Martigen's Monster Mod (MMM):
As I understand it, this mod has a major impact on undead enemies to give them a wide array of different looks, as well as the occasional undead enemy that has a weapon that's actually good. You can even run into Imperial Guard zombies. The gear undead wear are now made to look like their worthless, and there are zombies for each of the races as well.
There's some shit about adventurer NPC's that will loot chests and corpses, that sort of thing. Some shit about new gems and gem dust, and there's some item creation to make full sets of new armor. Weapon skill equates to more damage (works for the player and enemies), and your horse is no longer public enemy #1 to mobs.
Oblivion Warcry:
New items, readjusted sneak attack damage (higher than the original game), faster flying arrows... Let's see, what else? Most enemies no longer scale in level to the player, with the exception of bosses and the arena guys. Bosses have item sets, which give out bonuses when you have certain amounts from those sets equipped. You can't enchant set items or they'll lose their properties or some shit. That sucks. Oh, and there are 25 weapons to equip in your offhand to grant parrying. Neat.
Francesco's leveled creatures/items mod:
Well this mod comes in parts, so you can customize it how you wish. It seems like another "zomglvlcapmobs" type of mod, preventing level 25+ enemies from being god-like just because you're getting higher in level. It also makes quests in the game harder as you go down the line, like it specifically notes that you can't become the master of the fighter's guild by level 8.
Guards will level up with you, but some will stop at some ranges. Stronger guards defend more important places and people. Standard "New monsters and new items!" bullshit... This one seems the least impressive so far.
Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul:
I've always associated this as the mac-daddy of Oblivion mods, but have a waaaay out-dated version. Time to see what's going on with it.
Oh wait. The FCOM install page doesn't link to the feature list. Fucking damn it.

Yeah, quest reward leveling is a fucking must. I already have a mod that does it (not sure if its the same one you linked), and comes in two flavors; level Finger of the Mountain or do not level Finger of the Mountain. The latter eventually makes the spell impossible to cast, due to magicka requirements.
Is it just me or is leveling really slow in this game?
I have been playing my Red Guard warrior for about 12 hours now and I'm still only at 40% of level 2. My blade skill is at 47 and most of my other primary skills are taking forever to level up.
Got OOO installed. Maybe that's why?

12 hours and you're only level 2? O.o
What are your primary skills? That sounds really, really wrong.

It has a slower leveling mod in it, you can disable/enable that if you please. I didn't understand the point of slower leveling when you have OOO running anyway.

Yep, Default for OOO full is 5x slower iirc. In the OOO lite folder there are esps for slow level. You can tkae one of those instead, or make your own.
What's the reasoning behind the slow level deal? I never got that.
Makes the game harder, I suppose. Maybe some people like that. I just think it makes the game more annoying.
Doesn't it just space the game out so that you can get more quests and shit down as you progress in level? Like you won't hit the maximum level without having seen everything in the game yet?
It seems kinda lame. At least, 5x slower is lame. 2x slower I think would be a fair pace.

I dunno, most TES games are good and long enough for me.

What it does for me is gives me time to gear up as I go. On my current character I will hit level 5 soon but since it's taken so long I have a good set of chainmail armor with a couple mithril pieces, decent standard and silver weapons, a big list of alchemical components, and enough money to keep me in repairs for a long time to come. If I had just rocketed to level 5 (and this is important because 5 is where new, stronger monsters start to appear) I'd be wearing a shitty set of part-leather, iron weapons, no potions and poor as dirt.
I am so close to finishing FCOM install i can taste it, i just hope i did everything right lol. the only thing i might need to fix is OOO but thats nothing.
Edit: Also hpw can i choose to make the game lvl slower not x5 but like x2? Fan has a 1.5
Also since i am new to the whole mod thing, is it possible to just put the texture and mesh folders in the data folder or do i have to do each individual file?

Just copy the textures and meshes folders over. All the files inside them will come along with them.
I though the whole point of OOO was to eliminate or change the leveling?
Level scaling, yes.
To change the leveling rate, look in the OOO optional files. There should be an x2, x3, etc. I use x2 and I'm pretty happy with it.
I think what he means is that OOO is supposed to remove level scaling. Enemies shouldn't all of a sudden get stronger at level 5, so there's really no point of slowing down leveling.

The leveling was slowed because of the increased encounters and difficulty in combat. With the default leveling, you can gain 10 levels in an hour or two of play using a combat centric character.

My first reply got eaten
Slower leveling also lets you gear up as you play. Instead of being in leather and level 8, you're in a full set of chain and maybe some mithril at 4.
So guys, I figured out how to mod 28 Days to make the zombies anything I want.
To get revenge for his misguided murder at the hands of his own family, Lucien Lachance now stalks Cyrodill, attacking everyone he comes across and turning them into clones of himself.
This should be fun while I wait for that huge pixel pack to finish.
If I tried to activate that with FCOM on, would Oblivion just explode?
If it did, it would explode from the pure awesome. I've mucked around in the scripts enough to know that it doesn't modify anything that would screw up other mods, but it will ruin any chances of playing a normal game if you let it progress far enough. In mine, all of Cyrodill has been exterminated except for a few out of the way dungeons and quest NPCs.

Yeah, screw the original quest when you're world is overflowing with concentrated cool though. I'll have to give it a shot, whats the worst that could happen!?

Oblivion does not like running on Vista for me at all.
I died once, hit load and CTD'd. And when im playing the mouse acts like its running under oblivion, and i'll find the game minimizing because i've clicked something on my desktop.
I don't think the Zombie Apoc mod was really meant for a level 1 character, those zombies are tough. That being said, it's still fun, and these mods have breathed new life into Oblivion for me.

There's always a switch to deactivate it though. Find it.
And I've decided that I'm going to get this FCOM shit. Now to start the process of downloading. On dialup. Seeya guys in like 3 weeks.
