I recently asploded my old power brick, long story. Now, I've gotten two new ones from an eBay seller, and they both seem to have the same problem: either they won't turn on the Xbox, or the light on the brick is red. I can't tell if it's a darker orange than I'm used to, or if it's red.
I've tested the Xbox on another power supply at an EB, and it turned on there. Does anyone have any idea if there's a way to make a power-supply work, or did this eBay seller screw me?
check the power ratings of the xbox, and the power supply.
you might have an older xbox with a newer power supply --- newer Xboxes have a lower power requirement, and their power supplies are made as such. if you bought a new power supply (175w) but have an old Xbox (200-something watts) it won't supply enough power to the Xbox to start.
This reminds me that I've been meaning to see if I can get a second brick for travel. Can you not get a second brick from Microsoft?

you can get new ones from microsoft for ~$100. I'm guessing OP was trying to save some money by going the ebay route. He probably got bricked power bricks.
OP check the ebay listings again, if he doesn't say anything like "as is" or indicates anywhere that they may be broken you could probably take it up to ebay and get your money back.
