More Guitar Stuff (Hybrid Amp?)

So. I like guitars. I have several guitars. Here is all that I've got, with a grade for the condition of each:

1. PRS Singlecut, amber finish, 10-top, dot inlays (A-)
2. Epiphone Alleykat, trans black (A+)
3. Gibson SG Special, faded cherry (B-)
4. Taylor 110 (A-)
5. Vintage Ovation Preacher, black (C+)

What's the problem then? A series of tubes, or lack thereof. H/A, I want some righteous tube power. At the moment, I'm diggin' the Carvin MTS412, Orange Rockerverb 50 and Marshall Vintage Modern. As soon as my diggin' began, however, I encountered that most dreadful of obstacles: funds. Alas! How to get money for buying guitar related niceties? (Aside from saving.)

My thoughts immeadiately turned to the PRS. Painful as it would be to sell it, I could make myself. I reckon it could fetch me in the neighborhood of $1,500. Besides, in addition to the amp, I could acquire some parts for the Alleykat. (pickups, etc.) With a tiny bit of work, I think it could actually outclass the PRS.

A PRS Singlecut for a wicked amp. Right now, I'm playing into a Vox Tonelab through a pitiful Fender 1x12 combo. :(

So! The H/A I need:

1. How much do used SG Specials typically go for? I'll detract some dollars for imperfect condition, obviously; if it's enough, then that could allow me to order a Carvin SC90, which I've always wanted, in addition to the MTS412. This would conveniently replace my PRS in the "fancy-as-hell show-off guitar" category.

2. Any other amps to suggest? I prefer tubes, but I'm not opposed to solid state or modeling. If you're curious as to the sort of tones I dig, look on youtube for "R30 Overture" by Rush. That's what I like. Lots of treble, thick distortion.

3. Does this sound like a stupid idea? Am I batshit for even considering it?

Sorry about the bump, but I thought it redundant to post a new thread that would merely be an odd-on to question of the OP.

I've done some more research, and found a Fender Roc Pro on craigslist. Sounds pretty cool, further research reveals its a hybrid amp. I haven't found anything on hybrid amps, so I come to you. Are they decent? Even worth considering?

go play it. but chances are, if you are into tube amps, a hybrid is not going to cut it. i'd go for a modeller over a hybrid (for guitar. bass, different story...).

    1) gibson on the headstock means something post $400 private sale, 300 trade in. faded series go for less, as they are cheaper to start.

    2) (assuming classic rock tones)amps to look for: vox ac30. brian may of queen used one, for reference. a new one will set you back about 1k new, 7-800 used. vintage, waaaay more. orange/matamp. jcm8/900's go for around 700 all day long. jtm60s (212 combo). ampeg Super Rocket. bogners. the vox modellers, and the new line6 stuff are pretty good. but i'd still go for one really good sound/amp than a box with a thousand ok ones. i don;t like fender amps, so i can;t really say much about them.

    3) stupid? really depends. the prs is expensive, but nothing special. unless its rare, or customized, if you really needed to, you could find another. a bunch of fancy electrics aren;t gonna do you any good if you only play them acoustically.
