Rumor of discontinued Crimson DS? A lie.

There was a rumor going around a few days ago that Nintendo would be discontinuing the Crimson Nintendo DS. A friend of mine who works in the dregs of the video game industry has told me that Nintendo sent a press release out shortly after the rumor started that said:

"Nintendo is not discontinuing production of the 'Crimson' Nintendo DS. We will be prioritizing other colors of the system first and the black and red DS will become available again most likely in the month of March."

I find this to be good news since this was the color I was planning on picking up eventually. I don't know if I can wait till March though. I may buckle...

    How 'bout the gold DS? I know the pre-Christmas "limited edition" ones sold out in about 2 minutes, but does anyone know if there's any plans to make any more?

    Ya know, that gold ds tempted me but I'm sure there is some kid out there with it instead.

    Ah man, now I'm going to look like a jackass. I told a few people at work it had been discontinued, now they'll go some place and be like "THAT GUY AT GAMESTOP WAS WRONG!"

    I got a gold DS.

    The last that I heard was the Gold DS lites are limited. The Crimson one seems not to be. The gold are 40$ over the MSRP right now and thats a bit insane.

    My sister got one of the Black and Crimson ones for Christmas. They look nice, but just like the black ones, you can easily see the fingerprints. I'm satisfied with my plain white Lite.

    The white ones show dirt/finger grease quite easily if they are not cleaned regularly.

    I keep a micro fiber cloth in my DS case and wipe down after each use. Keeps things simple. And fuckin' clean.
