Datel's XSATA: Backing Up The Xbox 360 Hard Drive

I've been using this Xbox 360 memory card reader for the PC to back up my Xbox 360 hard drive:

The problem is, it takes a shit-ton of time to transfer items from my Xbox 360's hard drive to a memory card, then plug it into the PC, copy it off, and repeat... especially with the limited size of the memory card.

Mind you I'm not bothering to back up DLC, because frankly I can just redownload it in case of disaster, but it's my game saves that I really want. So like I said, the memory card-to-PC route is working, but slow.

But... for whatever dumbass reason... some Xbox 360 game saves, and all backwards compatible Xbox game saves, can't be copied off the hard drive... preventing me from in any way backing up these saves.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has used this, and if so, what was your opinion:

Does it work flawlessly with backing up (and transferring back) backwards compatible Xbox game saves?

Edit: It looks like this product from the same company might be better, as it doesn't require a PC near your Xbox 360:

I am also curious to know if anyone has used the Xport. After having a PS3 HD crash on me, I realized I need to back up my 360 saves as well.
