'Course.
Damn, this is gonna be close. Or not, you've won. Magmortar will finish him off, but fall to the demon monkey. Good show, Rockin. If I hadn't selected Waterfall by accident instead of Ice Punch, it probably would've ended different.
I'm soo glad it didn't, because losing this much makes me very awfully desperate. I'm glad the game didn't screw me over with a critical from that fucking top.

Yeah, I knew I was gonna lose unless the Mach Punch got a crit.
Ah well, least you feel better now.
And Umbreon went down quite fast from that damn Hammer Arm.

My God, this Hitmontop is the haxiest Pokemon alive. In two battles with a friend, the following occured:
Critical Fake Out OHKOs Gallade in the first fight.
Second fight, another Critical Fake Out takes out 75% of Grumpig's HP, which proceeds to die from two Mach Punches. Somehow, I lived through a STAB'd Psychic with 80 HP. Then it OHKOs Dugtrio with Mach Punch. THEN, Infernape deals 75 damage with Earthquake. What the hell? Two Mach Punches and it's down.
This is the haxiest crap I've ever seen outside the Tower.
Edit: Turns out he didn't EV train them, they were just to show off his clever nicknames.
You know what, I've been putting this off for two long.
Find a new fire gym leader. My interest for the game has pretty much burnt up. I might get back into it eventually, but as of now, it'd be better for someone who actually plays the game regularly to run the gym.
The official Pokemon site has more info on Darkrai now, similar to how they had Manaphy's information up just before announcing that event giveaway. They're also going to be showing previews for the movie on Cartoon Network this Friday, supposedly, so maybe they're gearing up for that. So, prepare for the rise of (legit anyway) Darkrai on wifi.
Meantime, its back to breeding Pokemon here.

As long as they don't make you have to go to the movie to download Darkrai like they did in Japan, I'm all for a freebee Legendary.
I am thinking up a new Gardevoir as well as a Lanturn to become alternates to Magmortar and Umbreon. With those two, half my team would have Thunder Wave. Only downside is the lack of a Pokemon with a ton of Defense. I didn't put any into Feraligatr, and Scizor only got 128 EVs. I suppose I could always give Gardevoir WoW instead, or even Reflect.
Hey, its even better for me if it turns out to be a movie legendary. I've got a brother who's a manager at the theater right now.
Hidden power breeding is quite the pain in the neck.. but you do seem to have some luck with it, Emerl. Hope it keeps up! Properly done, though, Gardevoir can take a few hits. Assuming they're not CB'ed Crunch. Shuckle's got pretty good defensive stats as well as the option to annoy in many many ways, if you're unsure about being defense-light.
I'm rebreeding my Spiritomb right now. I've got a few new ideas as to what it can do for me in a team. I'm hoping to end up with a 'team' who's got about four or five different variations depending on which Pokemon I end up placing in each space. I feel bad not using some of my older EV-trained Pokemon, you see. This way, I can cycle them in with the newer ones!

At least one gym leader has the decency to officially resign instead of just leaving us hanging.
In my opinion we need a system for shutting down inactive gyms/e4 members. I'm sick of Munkus's unassailable status due to the impossible prerequisites.

Yeah, I would keep Umbreon on my team, but with Gardevoir replacing Magmortar, I would only have 4 special attacks as opposed to 8 physical. That's why I'm brining in Lanturn; his defenses may be crap, but his huge HP counters this, plus the Parafusion combo can help him out. And he could easily come in if I can see an Electric attack coming for the 'Gatr and get healed at the same time. The Absorbs are some of the best abilities, aside from Technician and Serene Grace.
Obviously, Lanturn ain't an Umbreon, but what're you gonna do? At least I'm decreasing the umber of common weaknesses among my guys. I think the only common weakness is Grass now, which Scizor and Togekiss handily stall. Not many Grass types learn attacks that can hit them, besides Heracross and Breloom. (Edit: Oh, and Electric, but again Lanturn can take it)
Heracross isn't a grass type. Its Bug/Fighting. Gallade gets access to Leaf Blade, and a few Pokemon can learn Energy Ball and/or Grass Knot, but other than that grass isn't that common an attack variety.
As the gym teams have proven, however, its not common weaknesses, but how your team works and is able to respond to them that really matters. My hail team is horribly fighting/fire weak, but I've managed to handle both in several cases (and died horribly in many others, but they were learning experiences).

I'm making it so you only need four badges in situations like this one.
I know the games are the same except for certain pokemon only being in Diamond or Pearl, but is it better to get one version for trading, or does it not matter?
Also, for a noob going through the game, which of the starters is more beneficial? I heard there aren't many fire types?
Just kidding. None of the versions has any advantages over the other unless you really a Pokémon species in particular. And with wifi trading, you don't need to break your skull figuring out which of the starters to get.
In the single player, most people prefer going with the fire starter, but really any of the three will work fine. I went with the water starter and made it through single player easily. Lack of fire Pokemon is annoying but there's enough other Pokemon types that its not really a big issue. It is sort of funny though to go into the 'fire' Elite Four battle and only face two Fire Pokemon, with three others that aren't even true fire types.
As long as you have access to wifi for trading, the only difference between the two is whether you want to have Dialga or Palkia around for the E4 fight. If that doesn't matter, just pick whichever copy you'd like.
Wifi is after you get the first badge.
Gba games are after you get the national pokedex (Need to beat the Elite Four and see all of the pokemon in the region)

Eh, I'll give Magmortar and Umbreon some more time before I decide whether or not to make the Gardevoir and Lanturn. Aside from their relative newness (second Maggy and Umbreon was retired for quite some time), I'm just feeling lazy and don't want to breed up more Pokemon. I've made two Scizors, two Feraligatrs, the new Magmortar, and Cradily recently, I'm giving breeding a rest for some time.

Crap, forgot about Lucario's abilities.
Ah, you were expecting Ice Punch. And I was expecting another U-Turn. Didn't matter, Waterfall OHKO'd anyway.
AHH, I Danced again by accident! Damnit! But it didn't matter, I still barely won. I was worried that you had Ice or Thunder Fang, or Stone Edge, so I was uncertain whether to use Air Slash or Aura Sphere at the end. It was STAB vs ensured hit.
I was doing pretty well, but those damn Feraligatr's are as bad as Gyarados.
Muk really held it's own.
Great fight Emerl, I'm glad to see someone else using Feraligatr.
Nah there wasn't much I could do against Togekiss. But the flinch hax still sucked.
I was gonna ask if that second DD was an accident. I'm glad it was.

You use him as well? Did not know that. We should have an epic 1 vs 1 gator fight someday.
Seemed like I was about to die multiple times there, mostly because of that Muk. I probably could've saved Scizor by Roosting a few times instead of using Quick Attack, which killed myself because of the Life Orb. But screw it, I wanted that damn Muk dead.
Edit: Yeah, Feraligatr had 80 HP left, I knew he was going down the moment I selected the second Dragon Dance by accident. And I cursed my stupidity since I was so sure you had one of those three moves. Any reason why you don't use any of them?
I have an Abra. Is it worth levelling him up (solely for the singleplayer main game, not multiplayer), or is there a better psychic later on which is more worth my time?
Also, what the "hax" you guys keep mentioning regarding Wifi play?

Alakazam is pretty good - but any pokemon you like will do fine for the single player with enough levels.
Hax is short for hacks/hacking. Also it is a joke. Pokemon has a lot of luck elements in it, so occasionally someone will get like 3-4 critical hits in a row or you miss all your important attacks or quick claw activates over and over or you get frozen a lot or whatever. So, it's luck hax. Parahax is getting paralyzed a lot, flichhax is flinching a lot, crithax, etc.
Question: As I am not very knowledgeable on the Pokemon, I find myself referring to the Serebii pokedex quite often when battling. Now that I'm doing the Elite 4, I find myself constantly doing that as well, as for some reason I can never remember what to use against what. Anyway, is there a Guide/Book/Something that has all that type of information in it, so that I may detach myself from the computer when playing? Especially Drapion from the first guy. *mutter*
Lastly, as I'm trying to train up my Pokes to get past these damn Elite 4, I had a question about the most efficient way to level up your Team.
Currently, I have a low poke as first, a 2nd poke holds the Exp Share item, and then I switch to a high level poke to fight with. That way Poke 1 gets Exp, Poke 2 gets it through Exp Share, and neither of the lower levels have a chance to be hurt. It's just that this seems to be taking Forever.
It's taking forever because the total experience is divided by 3 and because it takes time to switch. Personally, I concentrate on leveling up one at a time, saving me time and energy while I can watch TV.
As for the type advantages and disadvantages, you'll just have to remember them from a chart. In your example, Drapion is Dark/Poison. Dark resists itself and Ghost, is immune to Psychic while being weak to Fighting and Bug. Poison resists itself, Grass, Fighting, Bug and is weak against Ground and Psychic. This means its only weakness is Ground as all the other weaknesses are nullified by the other type.
I thought that whatever held the Exp Share got 50% of the total XP value, and the other 50% share was split between Pokés that take part in the battle? (Additionally, I know that if you start with the Exp Share holding critter and switch out, it gets the 50% share from the item, and an equal share of the remaining 50% - maybe that's something Banzai could use to his advantage?)
Also, it's a good idea to make a note of the Pokémon each member of the Elite 4 uses as you fight them, then think about creating a team that can deal with each thing they throw at you, I feel. I remember running through them first time without a Grass attack. Brenda was HARD on my team.
(Also also, Chen, around and want that Challenger vs Water Gym battle?)

disco, I cought the abra as soon as possible and then got him to alakazam as soon as possible and he's pretty much my main hitter in single player. I keep him about five or six levels ahead of the competition and I haven't run into a tough fight yet. Go ahead and give him hidden power so he's got an attack, and rush him to lvl 17, then trade him.
