100% on (Don't Fear) the Reaper expert guitar last night. #44 highest score! woo!

and even though I did NOT 100% Creep I did improve my score a lot... got the #5 highest. dayum.

Too bad my overall career score is sliding out of the top 200 rapidly, as others pass me by.

Huh. A couple of weeks ago I got 100% & Gold Stars on Don't Fear the Reaper, but I didn't check my rankings.

...in fact, I haven't checked any of my rankings. Is this like GH3 where you have to be connected to live when you played the song to have the score register?

Creep has those massive sections of double strumming, which i find to be easier to miss a note than a lot of the hopo stuff.

Almost half of Creep on Expert Guitar is made up of those runs where you sit on one string and noodle endlessly. I'd be amazed if anyone here could ever 100-percent Creep.

And sorry I cut out your shilling last night, K, but I'll be sure to check your band's MySpace tonight.

I haven't finished Expert Vocals career because I'm too busy making sure I five star or gold star everything along the way.

Second last set, I think. Totally 5 starred Flirtin' With Disaster. I shot my voice on Welcome Home last night though. That's really the only thing holding me back from knocking down all the songs on Expert.

why the hell is coheed a cover. i really want an explanation. i usually dont have a problem with covers but i just cannot see this ending well.

coheed was a local band for me back in the day so the thought of anyone else trying to imitate claudio...ouch im dissapointed.

Lest we even mention the GH2 cover of Killing in the Name. The more distinct the singer's voice, the greater the risk of fans wanting to nuke the cover from orbit.

It is really strange that they wouldn't have access to the masters for Ten Speed, since they obviously had the masters to Welcome Home. Dunno if they were recorded at different studios or something, but oh well. On a tangent, I discovered last night that while I almost never use the effects switch, everyone should flip on Echo for the Welcome Home solo at least once because it sounds awesome. Makes me wish there were RB-branded stompboxes so I wouldn't have to futz with the pickup switch.

There was this night when my sister and I were playing with...you Lunker and Cap K. I think both my sis and K had their effects set on the same thing (Echo I think) and we were playing uhm...Enter Sandman. During the "and now I lay me down to sleep" part and all of us had Overdrive going.

That was some freaky shit on our end. The TV was shaking.

EDIT: YOu can change your band name via Band World Tour -> Band Profile

You can also change the name of individual members via Options -> Data Management (or w/e its called)

    Over 200 songs for 2008?

Hold on. I need a calculator for this.

    200 x $2 = $400

    D:

That's under $1.10 per week... Give up one Venti Espresso Macchiato every other week and you're gold!

    (And so are we... ;-))
    Maybe it's something about metric/imperial, but over here in Euro-land, 400/52 is ~7.7 :)

I find that spending most of my time dealing with vectors, matrices, quaternions and the like reduce my capability to do simple arithmetic.

What I should have said is under $1.10 per day... so you might have to give up those Macchiato every other day. Which could be good or bad, depending on how much you like Macchiatos.

Nice accomplishments, 100% on any song is awesome. For the record, though, if I could use the GH2 guitars I could easily 100% creep (I'm on PS3), it's a lot of double strumming but it's not too fast so it's just whether you mess up the fingering timing or not, hehe. As it is I can't even gold star it cause I break combo in the double-strum part too much :-(

To improve your overall career score try to get better scores on the long hard songs - a good run of GG&HT can give you probably up to 100k extra depending on your current score.

Coheed is one of my favorite bands. And Ten Speed is in the top 10 of my favorite songs by them. I'm sad to see it's a cover, but on the slight bright side Ten Speed is one of the songs that Claudio doesn't really go higher compared to other songs so it may be easier to cover. But yeah, those of us who are familiar with Coheed will hear it as shit.

Unless you have a friend with the disc, yes. It installs them to your hard drive.

Speaking of which, I'm scared of the DRM stuff since I sometimes take my system with me to a friend's house that doesn't have internet. If I buy the 120 HD and transfer everything, am I going to have that problem?

Doubt it. If they have tags then its not me. I have the regular Arikado handle. If I play, its only on the PA servers. Arikado is Alucard's handle in Aria of Sorrow so it wouldn't surprise me if someone else has it.

    Back on topic though...

I wish there was a way to sort bands on the leaderboards by the number of actual members. Like 4-person band scores in one pane, etc. I look at our band rating and we're like #2817 or something obscene.

EDIT: My loading -> select memory card -> loading additional content time is less than 20 seconds. And it only happens when I first start up.

LTTP but I just was just informed, from another PA'er at lunch, that Rock Band IS Game Only. And I also understand that the 360 version is compatable with the Guitar Hero controller.

My two questions are, first, does that also include the Red Octane X-plorer Controller?

and secondly if you are playing the single player version does it still show all three or four instrements on the screen or will it default to look like the GH3 version/

Close to a minute now. Xbox's DRM is the issue I'm sure. If any of my friends owned a PS3 I would have gotten that version but I'm the only person I know who has one so my choice was made for me. Hell I might still buy it again on PS3 is theres that big of a difference in validating downloaded content.
