New Trailer for PSN/XBLA 2D Remake of Bionic Commando! (co-op too!)

Looks very awesome. Was one of my favorite NES titles, looking better than ever.

Also of note is new features such as grenades, recoil on weapons while swinging. Throw enemies and grab barrels while retaining the feel of the original.

Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

    It's only offline co-op, though. :(

Still, this looks fantastic -- just saw the infoez on GAF. OP, you should clarify in the thread title that this is a 2-D remake/reimagination of the NES version, completely divorced from the XTREEM next-gen version. I'm far, far more interested in this.

XBLA, even divorced from the 360, is poised to have the best game lineup of the entire year. :D

EDIT: Needs more images! NSF Nazis, spoilered for H-scroll:

IGN had the news story posted for the 360 as well.

    YES SIR

I'm also super-excited. When I watched the trailer for the new, not remake, version of Bionic Commando I literally got goosebumps when I heard the theme music playing.

The preview on IGN UK says both the XBLA and PSN versions will hit in the spring. Apparently the game is also coming to PC!

Also, Mr. Incredible ... OR HITLER?!?!?!?!

This looks really good. I love it when companies remake old games properly. PoP was an awesome remake, and this looks to be of the same calibur.

it looks pretty good. Hopefully they nail the physics and movement, remakes tend to totally blow in this regard and things tend to get wonky. Also this reminds me of Duke Nukem Manhatten Project (the graphics)

I watched the video and became (more of) a gibbering wreck.

I first played Bionic Commando as a wee lad in a flea market in Florida whilst on vacation. I pined for that game and have never owned a copy.

I'm so bloody stoked for this. I'm buying a copy on XBLA AND PSN. Why?

ragdoll kinda looks dumb in this, woulda preferred death animations (but i guess those are on the way out). I think I like the change of actually having to fight a boss battle, was kinda lame that you could skip right past them and blow up the reactor thingy. Also, hopefully they tone down the rocket launcher, made the game way too easy.

I was actually majorly let down by that and preferred the original version in nearly all aspects. It controlled differently (part of the skill of PoP was allowing for the fact that you needed to jump before the end of a ledge) and I much preferred the original animation.

Sometimes games still stand up on their own after the passage of time, PoP was one of these.

Well, aside from the whole thing of unlocking one skin in the full retail version, they don't. The original title kind of made it sound like this was a trailer of the already-announced 3-D game instead of announcing a new 2.5-D remake for XBLA/PSN that doesn't require buying the other game.

This really would sing on the PSP, though. If the PSN version could transfer to it it'd be a huge boon.
