Pokémon: Manaphy
It’s Manaphy! This Pokémon also appeared in a movie.
This Manaphy is quite different from the other Pokémon that appear in this game. So much so that you’ll think, is this even possible?! Or words to that effect.
It appears from the Poké Ball!
Heart Swaaaaaaaaap!.........
Nothing happened...? No. That is not so.
Why, Zelda and DK have switched bodies! Wait... You mean, I’m her, and she’s me?!
AAAUUUGGGHHH!
You have to fight as your opponent for a while! They say it’s good to know your enemy.
But you haven’t really swapped places, so if you jump off the edge, it counts as a self-destruct for you. And your damage meter remains as it was.
After a certain amount of time, you go back to normal.
Phew. Good.
Things always seem to end well in this game, don’t they?
Iwata Asks
There’s a web page nestled within Nintendo’s official site where Mr. Iwata, President of Nintendo Co. Ltd., interviews other Nintendo employees. This corner of the website is known as "Iwata Asks."
For some reason, I, Masahiro Sakurai, was invited to one of these interviews.
Wha--?
But I’m not a Nintendo employee! I-is this OK? Are we seriously doing this? Oh, is that so? All right, well, if you insist!
I imagine this interview should give you a tiny glimpse behind the curtains to see what creating Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been like.
Go on and click the link below to check it out!

New Items
Crates and Barrels - They are now themed to fit the level style: normal, festive or futuristic. There are also rolling crates that slide hazardly, and explosive crates and barrels are marked as such.
Assist Trophy: This item is similar to be Pokéball but instead produces various video game characters. These are not in any way playable characters.
Known Assist trophies:
Hammer Bro
Nintendog
Samurai Goroh
Dr. Wright
Knuckle Joe
Devil
Andross
Lyn
Mr. Resetti
Excitebike
Lakitu
Little Mac
Gray Fox
Saki Amamiya
Stafy
Waluigi
Poké Ball: An all-time favorite item which gives you a random Pokémon ranging from the earliest to latest games.
Known Pokémon:
Groudon
Deoxys
Munchlax
Piplup
Meowth
Bonsly
Known returning Pokémon: Bellossom, Celebi, Chikorita, Electrode, Entei, Goldeen, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Mew, Snorlax, Staryu, Suicune, Togepi, Wobbuffet
Gooey Bomb: The Gooey Bomb acts as a sticky Remote Mine. While stuck to a character, it can be passed back after making contact with another player.
Cracker Launcher: This projectile launcher isn't as racist as it sounds. It shoots out rapid-fire blasts and can be aimed up and down while running.
Banana Peel: Because clichés work. This item doesn't do much other than tripping an opponent.
Bumper: A returning item from the original Super Smash Brothers, this time around it can be placed in midair.
Pitfall: The item comes from Animal Crossing and retains its effect from there. It can trap opponents in the ground or drop them through a platform.
Smoke Ball: This item deals no damage, but rather actually just blinds the player from the screen. It shoots out rainbow-colored gas.
Franklin Badge: Debuting from the Mother Series (Earthbound), it attaches to a player's chest and is basically an automatic reflector.
Spicy Curry: When a Fire Flower just can't suit your flaming needs, eating this will make your player constantly spew out flames.
Golden Hammer: A coat of paint works wonders, this hammer is flung around at crazy speeds and can let you hover. Occassionally it is a worthless squeaky hammer.
Smart Bomb: From the Starfox series, this bomb creates a massive explosion when thrown.
Team Healer: Only appearing in Team Battles, this item has to be picked up and thrown at your teammate to heal him, and can be intercepted.
Dragoon: You must fight to collect all three pieces before winning the one-hit KO of this legendary Air Ride machine.
Confirmed returning items: Beam Sword, Bob-omb, Bumper, Bunny Hood, Fan, Fire Flower, Food, Freezie, Green Shell, Hammer, Heart Container, Home-Run Bat, Lip's Stick, Maxim Tomato, Motion-Sensor Bomb, Mr. Saturn, Party Ball, Poison Mushroom, Poké Ball, Ray Gun, Screw Attack, Star Rod, Starman, Super Mushroom, Super Scope, Warp Star

Series Represented
So far, we've been given a list of series that have been represented, but as we get this list, its come to us out of order. We currently have gaps as shown:
1. Smash Brothers
2. Donkey Kong
3. StarFox
4. Kirby
5. F-Zero
6. Metroid
7. EarthBound/Mother
8. Pokemon
9. Zelda
10. Mario
11. Yoshi
12. Fire Emblem
13. ???
14. Ice Climbers
15. Animal Crossing
16. Wario
17. Metal Gear
18. Kid Icarus
19. ???
20. Sonic the Hedgehog
21. Nintendo DS
22. Pikmin
*22 Is the highest number we're aware of, it in no way indicates that it is the final number
It seems that icons at least require a stage to exist, so just because an icon is out there doesn't nessecarily mean there's going to be a character featuring it.

Smash Brothers Community Terminology
This is a very thorough look at advanced Smash terms to help end confusion about them. ChopperDave wrote it and has this to say:
Here is something that could be considered Part 3 of the Smash Bros Terminology. It goes over common misconceptions about tournament players and seeks to help end the SmashBoards versus casual play arguments which always seem to pop up in these threads. Everyone should take a look at these discussions:
-More talk about the competitive community by Chopper Dave
-Joshua368 which stages are banned in tournament play ... and explains why
Flash-based replica Brawl Stage Editor
This is a really cool page designed by mntorankusu, based around the Stage Creator update on the dojo. Here are some instructions and information.
Click here to play it. Here is an example of what you can do.
Customizable signatures that display user names and friend codes.
Here is something that mntorankusu and Geod have been working on, which will allow people to easily put their favorite character and friend code in a fancy signature to help organize things once the game comes out. It allows you to choose your name, character, icon, friend code, and color of character. This is what they look like:
The line "if you're lucky" in the update suggests otherwise, in my opinion...
Dedede has such awesome expressions.
Needs a vocalist!!
I also like how Olimar's eyes are apparently bulging as he flies away from the explosion.
Dedede IS awesome.
So in this picture we clearly see that Dedede is being poisoned by the white Pikmin...
Do you think you can chain the Pikmin in such a way that it'd do different types of damage in order?
Like a fire/poison/thunder combo?
Or perhaps it's just difficult to aim.
This was considered, but who can match KK's voice? It... it's beautiful.
XBL/PSN/Steam: APZonerunner
I used to watch the auto matches for Soul Calibur, and those were horrible due to being Comp vs Comp. This would be gold.
I expect said thread, and will avidly post in it.
Oh way wee ohhh, wee wee way oooohhhh
I tend to miss a lot.
Number of days until the Japanese release.
And we get the full everything soon after, since some crazy mother will beat SSE with every character in every conceivable amount of time, as well as beating every event match within 5 minutes after release.
I wonder about how SSE is going to work, as far as the branching story paths - will everyone come together at the end and let you select who to beat it with? What of the paths not traveled, will I have to replay SSE to play with Diddy instead of Fox? 2 weeks of mysteries.
Seriously, that's pretty awesome work there, and I bet you could do some awesome things with a bit more time.
It's cool to see the attention they're putting into making the characters a bit more animated. As was said, Dedede's expressions look awesome, as well as other things like Wario's jaw dislocating after a hit from the Andross assist trophy. There was a bit of that in Melee but it seems much more visible in Brawl.
I cant im going to bed in 4 minutes but do it!
AKA [PA]Ilovepandas
Also Olimar is great and I will play him lots.
I more or less picture some crazy dude data mining everything within minutes.
At least we'll have the full character list soon - although half the fun of the Smash Bros. experience is coming across the unexpected and fighting characters I would have never thought of seeing, so maybe I won't peek at the newcomers after all.. But 2 months is a long time to wait.
Well, that last one had Olimar, the Famitsu scans, and the delay...
List of Capcom Characters that should be in Brawl:
1. Megaman
2. No one fucking else.
This needs to be in the OP. So people get the point.
I'd also accept Viewtiful Joe but only in addition to Megaman

... Zero?
PM me if you added me!
Actually, I won't be mad. The game is still going to be perfect, just not... perfect-er.
Steps may include getting the triforce in OoT and unlocking Luigi for super mario 64 after downloading both on the vc.
There is absolutely no chance of it
None whatsoever
