Homeworld 1 1.05 patch - a trojan no matter where it comes from?

K this one's weird.

I've had the 1.05 patch (last one) for Homeworld in my patch directory for months or years now, and suddenly Avira is saying it's a kind of Trojan.

This is the only virus of any kind I've had on my computer so I'm a little stumped.

I tried deleting it and re-downloading the patch from a website, but seemingly regardless of where I get it - 3dgamers.com / gamespot / wherever

It still has the Trojan.

Anyone else wanna virus scan their patch? Or throw me a link to a non-trojan version?

    My guess would be that your anti-virus program is just mis-identifying it as a trojan.

    Anti-virus programs do come up with false positives sometimes, you know.

    Yeah I know, it's kinda weird though how that's the only file across 300GB of data it even suggests is problematic

    How could I get in touch with Avira and tell them its safe or to look into it more?

    If you download it from multiple sources, including reputable ones, and it's still detected as a virus, chances are your AV is wrong.

    well it wouldnt be unreasonable to think they are all just rehosting it from some original source, but anyways I've just been hitting ignore for the time being
