I heard Bush and the CIA were destroying all the copies so that people can't learn the truth.

I was blown away by Zeitgeist, I ate that shit up. Then a week later I realized I was a sucker. The same thing happened when I read the Da Vinci Code. Forehead slap moments are the staple of my existence.

Zeitgeist plays eerie music in the background while stating facts that may not actually be facts, then draws a conclusion that is supported by "facts" and out of context quotes that they pick and choose while facts that do no support their claims are carelessly dismissed.

Loose Change does the same thing.

EDIT: The Zeitgeist debate fails for the same reasons creationism debates and holocaust denials usually fail. Just chip away at small pieces of the puzzle long enough and people will ignore the fact that your conclusions make unprovable or unreasonable assumptions.

uh, OP, you're going to need a more substantive opening poast for the thread. especially if you want to discuss the topic of that movie.

Man, I thought this was going to be about the Pumpkins' new album. Which was better than the self-flagellating Machina... but not as good as anything before it. And they toured, but didn't play a show in Chicago, their home town, those fuckers.

That sucks, but I saw Billy Corgan live in his solo gig. It sucked. Hard.

    I feel more ripped off.

Yeah, the solo album was awful.

The Pumpkins played 9 nights at a place called the Orange Peel in Asheville, NC. Which was 30 minutes from where I use to live, before moving to Chicago, where they didn't play.

    Tickets were $18 a night...

Damn it, now I'm trying to find that video of the hideously fat redneck kid screaming about how bad that album sucked and then smashing the CD. But it's nowhere to be found!

Edit: here it is! Oh God, I hate this kid so much. At least pronounce it right you dumb fucker.

Speaking of awsome deals and bands from the 90's, a couple of months back I saw an unannounced President's show for free. We were going to a grand re-opening for a coffee house in Seattle with the promise of free live music. When we got there, we found out who was playing. We had to sit though an hour and a half of crummy music (hipsters can convince themselves that they like anything), but man was it worth it. Small venue, they crowd surfed while playing, it was all together awesome.

I'd sit through as much crummy music as I had to to see that. I don't think the Presidents have left the northwest US in the past 10 years.

I remember that. Asheville is about 45 minutes from my house (as in my not-at-school house). I don't really care for the Pumpkins, but I was really excited to see the Squirrel Nut Zippers at the Orange Peel - until they got dropped because the Orange Peel decided they needed 9 straight nights of the damn Smashing Pumpkins and cancelled all the other acts for those nights.

I saw Badly Drawn Boy, LCD Soundsystem, and They Might Be Giants at the Orange Peel. I got to meet all 3 bands by just hanging around after the show. It's easily the best venue I've ever been to.
