Also: yes, the news story earlier changed versions a
couple of times. What eventually came out was
that John Nee, a VP at DC and a legacy hire from
the Wildstorm takeover, has resigned -- although,
naturally, the circumstances reported aren't matching
the various stories circulating through back channels.
I'm trying to beat a script to death, so I can't get into
this as deeply as I'd like, but this is interesting for a
lot of reasons, none of them good.
Heidi Mac at the Beat says: "If nothing else, the news
capped off what had to be considered a week of bad
news and turmoil for DC." Sadly, I don't think that
does cap off the week for DC. I don't think they're going
to have a very good day at all, tomorrow. I hate this,
I've heard some discussion about how Nee's resignation may be a way of opening a spot for Didio to slide into. That way DC can just get him out of the way until his contract expires, and both Didio and DC get to save face.
I don't know if that's just wishful thinking though.
Someone explain to me why John Nee resigning is a bad thing, and not as inconsequential as it seems to me.
He was a VP at DC, and considering the shitstorm that's been going on there lately, what with Dixon at all, it further exemplifies that the company is having some major problems that are so dire that its staff is jumping ship.

he wasn't just A vp, he was "Senior Vice President of Business Development", which means that he's in charge of making sure dc comics are profitable and well-loved in the marketplace.
Nee joined the company in 1998 as General Manager of WildStorm and was promoted in September of 2007 to Senior Vice President of Business Development, DC Comics. His responsibilities included overseeing Business Development -- working to expand core business opportunities -- the WildStorm studio, and the CMX manga imprint.
If these were his main responsibilities, then I'd say his resignation was long overdue; Wildstorm and CMX are messes of biblical proportions. Though a lot of the Wildstorm stuff falls on Scott Dunbier's head.
do people even bother asking about those at conventions
I know there are a lot of questions for stuff like ultimate wolverine vs. hulk and heinberg's wonder woman stuff, but it seems comic fans get more pissed off at people who are comic writers second and other things first than they do at people who only write comics
I don't know if there is too much of a story to them. I know that Gene Ha said that he has never seen any other scripts other than the two he drew. Jim Lee said he only ever saw one script as well. I guess Batman RIP and Final Crisis, which Morrison worked on far in advance, took up all his time. Although if he committed to the relaunch they should have done SOMETHING. Speaking of Jim Lee, I thought they were back on schedule with All-Star Batman but I swear #10 has never come out.
Morrison did address it though. He said he gave up on Authority because of negative reviews online, which criticized the slow-burn plot he was developing. It was announced a while back that Keith Giffen would be completing Morrison's scripts for him, so presumably so Wildstorm can eventually get a TPB out.
Wildcats failed due to Lee's commitment to the DC MMORPG. I think he said he'd planned to do ASBAR and Wildcats in tandem, getting out an issue of each every other month. He felt he could do it after having just come off Batman: Hush and Superman: For Tomorrow, each which shipped monthly for a year. I can't really blame him for taking the MMO job, since it likely pays a lot more, and probably requires a lot less of him,
Has there been any news on the DC MMO lately? I know the Marvel MMO became the Champions MMO, but I haven't heard anything on the DC front in a long time.
Wow he quit writing the book because of negative reviews? That's a new one if more people did that there would be like 4 books on the shelf. You obviously follow comic news more in-depth than I do Munch so I bow to your superior knowledge.
That thing about quitting due to negative reviews just really boggles my mind though. It kind of reminds me how the creator of Perry Bible Fellowship quit making the strip because he was tired of people telling him to make it quicker and better.

Well yeah, that's true. It's still kind of a shock when you see him though.
Also, I now have an urge to go and watch the Grey Ghost episodes of Batman: TAS. And I don't have the DVD.
Sod
that is a great episode though
red hulk
no room to talk about bad purchases
Countdown is a much more terrible purchase
also you are dumb
It was really disjointed and unclear for that reason.
But the art was pretty and the next issue has Skaar fighting the Axe dude on top of a dragon so I'll probably give it another shot
Well it's been posted, but everyone seems to be ignoring it.
also put this out on his newsletter

People will harass Kirkman about his late books.
I don't think people bother Warren Ellis, because chances are he'll get ten more projects just to spite you.
"fuck off and die is where"
"o-okay"
Robert Kirkman lives like 5 minutes away from me so if anybody wants to yell at him about something just let me know.
