Jon Lovitz will be performing his stand-up routine for some lucky audiences this February at the Irvine Spectrum's Improv comedy club. This seems like a wonderful chance for those of us in the Southern California area to get together and have a good time.
He has supplied voice acting talent in several animated series including the lead character of Jay Sherman on The Critic, and animated movies. One of his most notable SNL characters was "Tommy Flanagan, The Pathological Liar" that generated the catch phrase, "Oh Yeah! That's the ticket!" Some of his other recurring characters included Master Thespian, Tonto, Satan, Hanukkah Harry and Michael Dukakis. Lovitz succeeded Phil Hartman on the comedy series NewsRadio following Hartman's death. Lovitz attended and studied theater at the University of California at Irvine and graduated in 1979. He became a member of The Groundlings comedy troupe where he befriended Hartman and Paul Reubens. Lovitz later said in an interview, for the book Live From New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live, that his time on SNL was the most memorable in his career. He went from having no money to being offered a $500,000 movie contract. In 2005, Lovitz entered stand-up comedy for the first time in his career. In 2006, Lovitz became the spokesperson in an advertising campaign for the American and Canadian Subway Restaurants.
Going to shows at the Improv is pretty cool. Some of us went to see Daniel Tosh and Frank Caliendo perform there, and they were pretty great. It breaks my heart that Wanda Sykes is performing on a night that I have to perform. They usually hand you free tickets to another show when everything is over. Not to the big shows, mind you, but it still gives you a chance to see some up-and-coming people. There is also a Dave & Busters at the same mall, so we can always do that after.

Sorry to the 13 year olds out there who weren't even alive during any part of his career but still want to participate. I believe there is a carousel and a ferris wheel at the Spectrum.
I know that Belruel has her birthday on the 15th, and has no interest in hanging out with people and having a good time on that day. There's a word for people like that.
Sensible.
Interested? Have a day that works best for you? TFS and feel the need to say something stupid in every topic?

Portland....China?
Irvine isn’t that far away.
I posted this topic early because 1) I figured we'd need to get our tickets early and 2) so people who have jobs that might conflict can try to get around their schedule for fun.
Oh shit yeah Feb 15th.
Well assuming they won’t have shipped me out to a late-primary state by then, then yeah I’d be down.
Also uh
weekends
are good for me. Other days I actually have classes.
I may or may not be in the Irvine area on the 31st of January for unrelated reasons
if that's meaningful to anyone
He still makes jokes about Ronald Reagan
and he spends a decent amount of time at the end playing a keyboard song he wrote about how Bob Saget is gay
But it seems like Lovitz hasn't updated his routine in 10 years
Bob Sagat is fucking terrible.
Maybe it would be funny if the stuff he said were shocking to me but hey I read the internet, Bob so no.
he's so bad that you saw fit to italicize his terribleness
why cant minors just sit there too
