I have already started looking into characters for a good character playthrough. I am considering skald, since bards are pretty cool and the battle song seems awesome. I have a couple of questions on them though, in case anyone knows anything about bards.
1: Will the epic songs you get in TotB override the skald songs, or are skalds still be the best singers?
2: Is there any good reason to keep levelling as Skald after you get the highest level of bard song (lvl 20 or something I believe) or would that be a good time to dual class into kensai for melee goodness?
1) The epic songs will override the skalds song, which means that all Bard kits will end up the same songwise IIRC. So if you are planning for the higher levels I would recommend to go for a Blade instead.
2) Bards can't dual or multiclass, if memory serves.
Well, wow. Thats just beautiful. They really did their best to make the bard class attractive, didn't they?
Thanks for the info, I could have wasted alot of hours playing as the ugly beaten stepchild of the DnD classes.
Easytutu should be pretty simple. Install Baldur's Gate + TotSC, patch, install BG2 + ToB, patch, install Easytutu, done!
Yea, that would be great if I could get it to work right.
How does it not work right? The one time I used it, I installed BG1 and BG2 and their respective expansions, patched them both, then started the EasyTutu installer. Then I pointed it to both of the games, told it where it install itself, and a couple minutes later it was done and everything worked fine.

I've already said exactly how it's not working right, not 10 posts up.
I sided with him at first, went up to talk to the knights, and now want to go back in and kill him. Problem is I'm having one hell of a time killing Demogorgon at my level. Is it possible for me to go away and come back later on in the game, then kill him?

Blades are actually pretty god if built well enough.
They're one of the few characters than benefit from Tenser's Transformation.
No class can dual into Kensai, by the way. Kits can only be dualled out of.
kill the beholder in the Fields of Slaughter exit? he constantly petrifies my party members only to shatter them before I have a chance in hell of restoring them and he dispels magic constantly so no help there...
I'm really embarrassed to admit to you all that I'm more excited about getting home to play Call of Duty 2 and Jagged Alliance 2 than Planescape: Torment! Maybe I'm just in the mood for some crunchy games instead of continuing the Nameless One's story.
My first question, where the hell is my Tab highlight. I can't play these games without it anymore, don't tell me it's not there. Edit: Ah, I found it, it's Alt.
Second, anyone have party tips? I'm trying to go with a party of 4, since I read somewhere that's decent and I hate dealing with too many people anyway. So far I'm going Fighter4/BarbX, Battleguard of Tempus, Sorcerer and Bard -- I could replace the bard for something more useful, but bards are awesome. Am I going to be raped to death with that?

4 is the D&D standard--warrior, healer, scout, and artillery. From what I recall, IWD2 actually doesn't need a dedicated scout, at least as far as traps and locked doors go. Your mix looks good, though you might want to give your bard one level of rogue, for trapfinding (it's not necessary, but it's useful).
I've only tried Yaga-Shura with tactics once so far (and played pretty badly because I didn't know it takes him so long to show up the second time), but is there any way to bypass his regeneration? I figured poison would work, but apparently not, and only getting him to barely injured was pretty discouraging.
It goes away as the fight progresses. I just kept on spamming summons on him until I ran out before sending in my main damage dealers. Slow also works pretty well in slowing down regen a great deal.
I just finished an Ascension play though with my main being a Monk with the Monk Epic level abilities from the Oversight mod. I do miss improved whirlwind, but Lunar Stance is pretty damn cheap. Immunity to time stop for 4 rounds, and you can keep getting it up to 4 times a day. Also the improved movement speed made things pretty hilarious. Moved so fast that I could keep on going in circles and not let a spell effect even get it me.
Ah well, that's enough of BG for me. Time to get around to Torment.
Couple of questions.... Playing BG 1 and have not come across ressurection spell or boots of speed... Were they in the first game? Second I dual classed Imoen at lvl 5 and now don't have access to her thieving skills... Will I get those back?

To the second: yes, when her new class goes to level 6.

bg1 is a very nice low level game, if i recall resurrection spell you wont actually get at all or a cleric's caped level (7 or 8, its been awhile) i wish more dnd games would offer low level gameplay, rather then having you go from 1 to 30 in such a short space of time.
also you get at least 1 pair of boots of speed.. i think theres a 2nd too, but its been awhile..
im currently replaying PST again thanks to this thread with the fix and restoration packs. after that i plan on replaying through the whole bg saga with the BGT mod and some of my mods as well.
The Illithid city was fun. If fun is endlessly replaying the same fights over and over again trying to not have everyone instantly gutted by bad guys, that is. I ended up peeling off one mind flayer at a time with someone who had Chaotic commands cast on him then dog-piling on him with a hasted party. Took a while. I suppose I could have just memorised 6 chaotic commands and cast them on everyone, but where's the fun?
Also, I don't know if the elder brain was supposed to be so easy to kill. Set up a fighter in the doorway to endlessly shoot arrows into him and voila: instant brain puree. Does he actually attack after the first ego whip?

Shouldn't you have a cloak of spell reflect by then?
It actually looks better without ToB, oddly enough.
I think there's a mod somewhere.

I must know, is the quote "My pantaloons are full of weasels. Inform the queen." actually from one of these games? Not that I'd ever touch the Infinity Engine again as the UI and myself were like matter and antimatter, but I might read a script or watch a video of someone playing through as an asshat/madman.
Side note: could someone post links/sauce to the translated "Baldur's Gate II 4-Koma" comics that someone posted in the last thread? Someone I know would get a huge kick out of them, especially the one with Imoen being all shoujo manga and saying, "Onii-chan!" with big starry eyes and saccharine and shit.

In the middle of BG2, you go to a magical prison.
Inside, one of the (insane) prisoners can give you a scroll and it says:
It's actually a cypher and when translated, it reads "My pantaloons are full of weasels. Inform the Queen, so that she might shoo them away. Here we go 'round the mulberry bush. Go monkey GO!"

Source is some japanese dude, translation is courtesy anonymous. I posted them like 2 years ago in a previous BG 2 thread, I could upload them again to rapidshare if you really wanted.
The widescreen mod is pretty great, but there's one thing everyone should know!
It doesn't work with the two disc budget re-release of Planescape: Torment. It works fine with every other IE game, but that two disc version of Torment breaks the mod. The executable is slightly different and the mod is unable to install properly.

Nnnnooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: Wait... the forums seem to imply it works with a little doing...
Man, I loved BG2. Particularly the Sahaugin city (and the Spectator Beholder!) - you just don't see games these days with skippable / bypassable areas that big.
What did you guys do when you got to the Sahaugin city? I liked the moral dilemma -
I mean, the Prince is obviously the best bet for their survival - but then considering that they raid settlements all up and down the Sword Coast, force captives to fight to the death, eat people...
though it wasn't much of a dilemma for me.
King or no king, mage PC / Aerie / Edwin firing off stacked webs + stacked fireballs takes care of business.

Last time I played through...
I killed both the prince and the king. Triple-crossing is the game I like to play.

What really cracked me up is that not even Jaheira seems to disapprove when you do
kill every Sahaughin in the city. Isn't she supposed to frown upon stuff like this or are the Sahaugin considered Abominations?

Jaheira's pretty obviously meant to be neutral good, so I don't think she'd mind at all if you decide to basically wipe out a race of evil shark-people.

I just got it working.
Apparently what you do is: install, start it up, make a save. Then install the mod with disc 2 in the drive.
I was just running PST at 1280x800 and it was amazing, although a bit hard on the eyes.
EDIT: Wow, I just installed the Restoration Pack and you have a TON more dialog options with Mort at the beginning.

All running around with the Nameless One, Morte floating to my right, Dak'kon to my left.
It was pretty epic.
In other news, I'm up to Ravel's maze in P:T. Which I think is the furthest I've ever been. I may actually finish the game this time.
You might be thinking of Beholders.

About to test it on some Torment.
