I don't know what you're talking about with Ninja Gaiden. I never have to find some method. I just hit guys with my sword and dodge until they're dead. The hard part is successfully dodging and successfully hitting them with my sword.

    Case in point.

Try hitting the Cat girls with your sword.
I see what you mean, but I've never had that problem with NG. I felt DMC was more like that with "these gargoyles have to be shot before you can stab them".

In general, the cat girls are more vulnerable to long distance weapons like the lunar, and if you time it right, you can combo from projectiles into the dragon sword.

I will admit, though, that the fight against the horsemen archers / spearmen was the hardest fight for me in the entire game, and I cheesed my way through it by just blocking and rolling and slashing at horse ass the entire time.

Regardless of your opinions on Ninja Gaiden, I am going to buy both DMC4 and NG2, and sweet, sweet beatings are to follow.

    PS3 DMC4 get.

Sure, I have a 360 but dammit my PS3 is so lonely.

Installing now...the backstory info and music is pretty cool during the install, too bad the backstory only lasts for 20% or so before starting over.

    What... the fuck?

You have to install shit on the PS3?

I've pre-ordered this fucking 3 weeks ago, and now Gameplay uk have cancelled it. What the fuck?

[edit]Jesus christ I hate life so much. My old card just expired last month. They couldn't even notify me of a transaction error (as Play.com have in the past), and now I've lost my discounted order. Money grubbing sons of bitches.

Capcom sent along this pretty nifty reviewers guide with the game that will clue in a pedestrian like me on the ins and outs of demon hunting. They also have a couple papers detailing a number of "I am your father" plot moments that sites and pubs are not to reveal, so it looks like the 20-mission plot of this one is gonna be pretty twisty turvey.

They also sent along this itsy bitsy art book from the game, which I think was maybe a pre-order incentive for the retail folks.

Game is pretty fun so far. I change some of my control schemes. Using RT for Exceed. Feels a bit better than LT IMO. The bosses are decently easy although the second one caught me by surprise with one of his moves that ate me up (literally). Not much story has gone and I'm not really surprised. The instant rev is pretty challenging to master and sometimes it can screw you over pretty bad if you continually miss on it and trying to do it.

Overall the presentation is nice. The loading times are ridiculously fast. Maximum so far I think I had to wait was about 5 seconds and I'm on mission 5. The beginning fight was boring as the game made you do an intro tutorial even if you turn the tutorial off. Also the new currency is kind of annoying. I liked being able to spend everything with just my red orbs and now they're just for purchasing items from what I can see so far. Controls needs to get a bit getting used to as the previous DMCs wee on PS2 and some of the layout such as the analog and the triggers feel kind of weird on the 360 controller.

O yea the artbook is pretty nice. Hardcover and all. I mean it's free so what the hey.

So I got this game around noon and played up to mission 3. First of all, I'm relieved that the cut scenes are just as wacky and hyper kinetic as DMC 3. Nice to see Dante portrayed as a bad ass. Somewhat dissapointed with the difficulty level so far. Hopefully it ramps up. I know there's six different levels, but I don't like having to beat the game to open a harder tone.

It's a 20 minute 5 gig manditory install for the PS3, and for that it cuts 3 seconds off a 10 second load time. I'd rather they gave the option of an install for those that wanted it while leaving those that didn't with the slightly longer load times. If every game starts making it manditory my 60 gig harddrive won't last long.

I'd rather console gaming stayed as far away from PC gaming in that respect as possible. The ease of use is why a lot of people prefer consoles; being able to pop games in to play quickly is one of console gamings virtues.

Edit: I don't actually mind it in this specific case but I hope it doesn't become a trend.

It is an initial install. You do it once and never do it again. So after that first time loading it, its basically a "console" game again. I dont get the uproar.

And you can always delete the stuff it installs later when youre done with it. Or just upgrade the hard disk if you download that much... you can use any laptop hard drive in the PS3, you're not shackled to the official, super expensive, 360 hard disk.

Picked this up today, played to Mission 5. I started on Devil Bringer since I figured the demo was probably on Human, it gives a really nice challenge. I haven't died yet, but it isn't a cakewalk, just how I like it.

Yeah, it's amazing. The cutscenes are extremely well directed, and the game looks stunning as a whole. I didn't particularly enjoy the
    gyroblade shit
even though I did the special mission. Overall this is wicked, and I know the replayability will justify my purchase.

I've played through one and three, and it was nice to have a recap of the story since I haven't touched either game in ages. Two I tried playing but....well we know how that went.

The backstory stuff for DMC2 was very short and irrelivant in the loading screen. It really just feels like a side note storyline, something Dante did after DMC1 that meant nothing for the canon. DMC1 and DMC3 are the important ones. DMC1 is the classic story of Dante confronting Mundus, and DMC3 is the origin story, ending right where DMC1 began. DMC4 is pretty much what happens after the first one.

Automatic is normally reserved for easy mode and gives you less control over your attacks since it pretty much takes over for you. You'll never get any real skill or any high ranks using it.

I played up to Mission 4 so far, and yup, it's more Devil May Cry. I mean that in a good way. The cutscenes and the graphics in general are absolutely gorgeous. The platforming and puzzle elements seem a little out of place. I know that they've always been part of the series, but the combat is so finely tuned I find myself just wanting more of it.

I still haven't quite gotten a handle on the whole revving-up the sword mechanic.

I'm playing on Devil Hunter mode and the difficulty is just about right.

As for the recap, yeah, for DMC 2 they basically just give character profiles and mention they're all looking for some artifact that will resurrect an ancient evil. Or something. It didn't have much to it.

Overall though this game is fantastic. God of War 3 and Ninja Gaiden 2, the Gauntlet has been thrown!
