So I got this game around noon and played up to mission 3. First of all, I'm relieved that the cut scenes are just as wacky and hyper kinetic as DMC 3. Nice to see Dante portrayed as a bad ass. Somewhat dissapointed with the difficulty level so far. Hopefully it ramps up. I know there's six different levels, but I don't like having to beat the game to open a harder tone.
Are you at Human or Demon Hunter difficulty? And gathered from comments elsewhere (gamefaqs last week, ugh), the game is supposed to get significantly harder as you progress through the story.
As long as it doens't get DMC 3 hard. Also how come developers have been adding a grapple hooks into their games lately?
as far as I'm concerned, every game since lithium ctf in q2 should have included a grappling hook.
The real boss fight against Dante is insane and once you switch to Dante you will realize that Nero was easy mode. The devil bringer is an easy button against anyone.

I'll admit that abusing Nero's Devil Bringer almost felt like cheating. Part of the initial challenge comes from the fact that Dante looks like a tank in the cutscenes but has to rely on his agility during gameplay.

Intro gunfight remind anyone else of Equilibrium? A lot?
That was pretty fucking awesome. My only problem was that I didn't manage to get the best ending, fucking Hell Vanguard right at 2 fucking seconds left!

On Devil Hunter and non automatic it gets pretty fucking hard sometimes. Probably harder than DMC3 in my opinion just because you have more things to handle, remembering to use devil hand+rev+sword and charging your gun at the right moments is a lot more to worry about than the previous games.
The 4 gyro blades thing. That corridor, as far as I can possibly see, contains only three gyro blades, I unlocked the third one. On one side of the corridor there's a larger area, but it's behind bars that I can't get past or break with a gyro blade. And I can't bring these across rooms right?

I did 5 missions. Pretty cool so far, and I'm having way more fun with Nero than I expected. My only complaint about Nero so far is that his devil bringer is too powerful. It often ends up being a better option than using a mix of sword/gun. Like the white knights for example, grabbing them deals so much damage there's no reason not to finish off all knights with it.

I think it's less because the Devil Bringer is powerful, and more because the Blue Rose is worthless.
My only disappointment so far is that I want a new toy to play with... lack of new weapons makes me a sad panda. ;-)
Also, I really hate having to pick and choose stuff, so I'm glad they put an option in the Skills menu for "Select Best Skill." This is why I always auto-level in RPGs.
I own both a 360 and a PS3, and I'm probably going to get it for the PS3, mainly because my 360 RROD'd and was sent back to me before the falcon model came out, and lately I've been getting disc read errors on perfectly clean discs. Also because, c'mon.

I'm just wondering what the obvious reason was. The one you stated "C'mon" for. Do you prefer the PS3 controller? What is it?
That's for you, the viewer, to decide.
Actually, I just think the PS3 is "cooler", because I just got one and my 360 is being a douchebag with the disc read errors lately. Now good day, sir!
Fair enough. I was hoping it wasn't the whole "you get quicker load times on PS3", because seriously, these 360 load times are amazing as well. Anyone who complains about them has ADD.

Just beat Berial, how the hell was I supposed to do the move where you grab his head and slam it into the ground? Was I just supposed to press B next to him when he was stunned because if it was that simple I'm going to be pissed, cause I was locking on and jumping high in front of him trying to do it like in the vids.
You have to press B without locking on, while near his head when his flames are out.
*goes insane with rage because his obsessive compulsive nature is going to force him to play that entire level again just for the boss fight so he can do that fight*

Holy mother fuck the end of mission 10 is impossible. Hardest boss fight ever.
Also stop it with the retarded fanboyism in this thread. Yes, you have to install it on PS3, no shit, get over it. It does not matter what system you play it on.
1. If I wanted to grind proud souls, where would I go?
2. I just got the max act (I think is it's name, the one where you can rev to fill the ex gage with a super precise timing). I was wondering what the deal with that was? Is it like a "just rev" where if you do an instant rev but hit the absolute precise right frame, you max it out or is there a separate timing for it?
I just finished mission 10 and honestly the story is pretty bad. Some angsty kid going after his girlfriend who has no personality whatsoever. DMC1 and DMC3 had great stories, not because they were complex at all, but because they were just straightforward awesome demon stuff and didn't apologize for it. DMC3 was incredible because of how Dante took everything as a joke, the game never took itself seriously ever.
Also, the game gets pretty repetitive with Nero by mission 11, maybe it picks up once I play as Dante but right now its getting pretty dragged on. Why can't Capcom make another DMC1? Was it just the perfect game that can't be replicated ever again? DMC4 is pretty much on par with DMC3, probably a bit better because of the more content, but I came in hoping it was Capcom's attempt at recreating the magic of DMC1. Alas.

Dante?
Use the Devil arm and keep grabbing and smashing him into the ground, he folds pretty quickly. Don't bother shooting or using your sword.

I finally figured out I can do that.
There was some epic countering and swordfighting going on but he just has too much HP and does too much damage, so I did that trick. Killed him pretty fast. Doing it on the ground is bullshit and I don't see how anyone can do it, he can stop everything you throw at him and then he fucks with you just so he can do a split.

The next one requires a bit more timing and skill, lets just say....
A boy in his bubble. At first you may be like "What the heck do I do?" Knock out the shield get in close and grab him. Nero will Dialogue and pound the shit out of him. Pretty awesome.

Not to be nit-picky but isn't saying "Now every one totaly ignore the floor in this console/game and move along" also "retarded fanboyism"... I for one would not have found out about it if every one wasn't going on about the installation and it certainly pushes me firmly over to getting the 360 version over PS3... not to mention after I heard all this "Install time" fuss I read this PS3 review http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/02/04/ps3-fanboy-review-devil-may-cry-4/
That states there is a bug in the PS3 version that causes the controllers de-sync during play O_o. Which totaly alienated me towards PS3 DMC4.
At the end of the day we're all consumers of a product (video games and video game systems) and people stating actual facts, as opposed to truely opinionated fanboy crap, help us make informed purchases. And the PS3 DMC4 installtion problem is an actual fact that is worth mentioning to inform consumers and very probably worth of discussion??? Do we want this? do we want this as an option rather than being mandatory? should MS follow suit with the 360? and so on....
I think telling people to shut up because what they're saying offends your allegiance to one company or another, or you just saw a quick opening to try and seize some moral high ground, is doing consumers a disservice.
Actual stats about console failure rates or legitimate reports of problems in certain game/game-ports are not "fanboyism".
And i think its Capcoms "get over it" attitude, that you also seem to share, that is pissing people off aswell.
Lets say all of Capcom's games do this... people with 40Gig HDD models will be able to have 8 of those games on at any time.... now that is utterly shit and worthy of flinging some of the smelly stuff at Capcom about.
It doesn't offend me at all. It is completely irrelivant which system anyone chooses to play it on. If you actually cared about how the game performs on each system, you would do a google search which takes about 3 seconds. It's a useless conversation that has no place being here, if you want to create a thread about multiplatform titles and which ones you should get for which, do it. This is a discussion about DMC4 the game.
I figure I might as well explain my opinions on these "issues". If you have time to play video games, you have time to wait 20 fucking minutes for an install. On the basis of the game on it's own, it's just not an even remotely valid complaint. For the future of the PS3, sure, but in regards to this game it's absolutely miniscule. The de-sync thing is also not a big deal, it's just ammunition for people opposed to the PS3 in my opinion. I've had it happen once in 10 hours and it was for about one second. And to go along with that, the screen tearing on the 360 is also not a big deal.
But of course there will be people like yourself who really really care about stuff like that, and in that case if you cant search for yourself, you can make a thread about the technical issues among multiplatform games on the PS3/360. The reason people love talking about it is because it validates their own console choices, and that kind of "retarded fanboyism", which is what I call it, does not need to be here.

Wait... where does it say there is a bug that causes the controllers to de-sync, I read the article and didn't see anything about that. Besides, I highly doubt this is the case since the bluetooth pairing is done low level in the OS, game should not affect this. It just doesn't make sense.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Yeah. But I loved that movie so it's all good.
I thought it was cool how Dante and Nero's shooting canceled eachother out.
No thats not what you need to do for that one. You need to go back through the hallway with the fireballs.

Man, when you do it, you feel so cool.
Game is a billion times cooler than it was already [which was a billion times cooler than most games.]
I will be playing this game for years until i can beat those japanese fucks on the leaderboards.
